WHO IS RUNNING THESE CAMPAIGNS? WHO IS PAYING FOR THEM?

Has anyone else noticed that only Little's campaign literature has the "Paid for" disclosures?

You would think DiBella, McKenna, Antonucci and Reily ever ran for anything before.

Are ELEC reports required for this campaign?

HOLD THE PHONE! STOP THE PRESSES! THIS JUST IN FROM THE FRONT....IN THE 2/9 EDITION...

In this week's Courier, in an exclusive story not found in any weekly or daily in this county or any other, the person running against Republican Chairman Fred Niemann will announce their candidacy against Niemann.

Is this the end of the road for Niemann or just a speed bump on the way to mediocrity? Judge for yourself!

DiBella's mailing had a paid by on it also. It was said, "Paid by Joe DiBella". It was on the return address of the envelope. This is frequently done. When you mentioned it I checked the envelope.

You'll get no takers. I think we all know he is.

mckenna said in an interview i did that if he is appointed he'll refuse any salary or benefits until after the november election. hey...that's something.

tom de seno said he would actually debate anyone...that's to the good.

anna little is a strong candidate. no one has a bad word to say about her... no one sane that is.

it is a good field of candidates...too bad all the drama.

I liked what DeSeno had to say about pay to play in his Tri-Cities "Justified Right" column. He made alot of sense. Its too bad that our leaders have run for cover and let the APP bully them and dominate the issue. However, I don't think DeSeno is a serious canidate this time out.

Little and McKenna are both good candidates and would make a good ticket in November, assuming Ted retires. If Ted runs, Ted and Little would be a better ticket and McKenna should be county chairman. I like Mel Hood, but very unfortunately, I don't see him getting elected as chair unless McKenna and 2 Rivers both support him.

DiBella just has too much baggage. If he really wants a poltical future he needs to change his ways and win over his critics in Howell, which will be no easy task but can be done. He's a young man. A couple terms as Mayor and a good track record would do him well before he moves on to Trenton or Washington.

you know, mckenna said something i really respect a lot. he said that if he did not get this office he would not run for the other freeholders seat or the chairman seat.

i respect the intetnion immensely. i am not sure i would agree with not running for the other freeholder seat but i get it and the thought behind it. bob isn't a candidate for "just anything."

he has a vision of what he wants to do and he is particular. he made a point that he doesn't particularly like candidates who are constantly "hunting" other political jobs or higher level political jobs nearly from the time they become candidates for some office.

i think he displays a lot of integrity. i hope he does well, and mrs. little also.

ted should do whatever he wants. he earned what he has. the bunch at the top of the heap in the party are there because someone tossed the job over to niemann because no one could agree on anyone else. so, since niemann actually never did anything significant enough for there to be a recognizable stand taken on anything then it was impossible for him to offend anyone.

only making a clear decision could have made him enemies. fortunate for mr. niemann, after about 20 years as a republican, he had successfully maanaged to avoid making a decision or taking a stand. now, there's a gift.

I think this is a mistake on Bob's part, and I hope he retracts the statement before the election for the open seat.

My problem with it is two fold:

1)It's immature and arrogant. Another way of saying the same thing could be, "Give me what I want and do it my way now or I will withhold my contribution and talents going forward."

This "my way or I'm outta here" attitude is Bob's biggest weakness. I like what he stands for on the issues and he's obviously talented with a stong professional and political track record.

2)I think us Republicans have a better shot at winning both seats in November if Mrs. Little is running as an incumbant and Mr. McKenna is her running mate (if Ted doesn't run). Either way I think Bob would be a good candidate for chairman, with a little attitude adjustment.

If Bob wins the open seat on Saturday there will more controversy and acrimony in the ranks as he and Bill Barham buck heads. It will get ugly and could very well lead to the loss of one or both seats in November.

Mrs. Little will work well with the current Freeholder board if elected on Saturday, and she run well with either Ted or Bob.

I understand you point of view, Bill, and agree. But, if the GOP is going to be the best prepared that it can be in the General, a Little-McKenna ticket (or vice versa) would probably be the optimum.

I think that BOTH parties should field the best they have to ensure a good result one way or the other come November. I don't think that the GOP will field its best candidates possible if McKenna and Little aren't in the race.

De Seno is a very good pick, but he is a first-timer on the county scene. He would probably be very good once there is some strong, independent continuity on the board (see above). I DO think he is good for later, though.

Just my opinion, of course.

Jim,

I agree with you about DeSeno. I'm happy to see him raise his profile. If he establishes residancy in Asbury Park, he would be a good candidate against Pallone.

Honest Abe said...

It would be nice to have somebody running against Pallone. My sources turn up no names in either Monmouth or Middlesex. Pallone running unopposed only strengthens the Democrats right down the column.

Since Joe Azzolina doesn't appear to be running, I suggest Michael Borg!
