Oxley out of Chairman's race

The APP and The Courier are reporting that Sheriff Joe Oxley will not be running for Monmouth County GOP Chair.

This is very disappointing news. Joe has the prestige, respect, integrity and leadership ability we need to right our ship.

Say it ain't so Joe

Very disappointing indeed, Mr. Secretary. I hope this doesn't open the race up to one of "Fred's boys."

It's understandable. I mean, Joe Oxley is probably the best sheriff this county has ever had. If he loves his job and what he's doing, I kind of like that idea.

So many politicians are just looking for what's next. Joe loves serving Monmouth and loves being the sheriff.

It's a shame he doesn't see the chairmanship as what is next, he would have been an incredible one. But there are three people who are announced that are great. I don't think all the bile about Ed is relative. He was targeted by the APP, I believe wrongly. That's neither here nor there.

These guys should sit down and work it out. They're all good guys and they'll do what's best, and a campaign atmosphere may not even be necessary.

Jim, Ed and Mel: All good guys with a lot of intelligence and experience. Why be adversarial out of the gate unless it's absolutely necessary?

by the by, there's a "web special" story at the courier's site that has some different information in it. you might want to check it out.

I guess Joe agreed with me.
Smart move on his part.
