What if....

Sam Thompson retires?
Does Rob Clifton run for Sam's Assembly seat? If so, who runs for Rob's Freeholder seat?

Steve Corodemus and Sean Kean have a primary for the 11th's Senate seat?
Does Anna Little run for an open Assembly seat? If so, who runs for Anna's Freeholder seat?

Bill Barham is not Director next year?
Who will the Director be?

Does Bill run for an open Assembly seat? Does he challenge Corodemus and Kean for the Senate seat? If so, could Barham and Little be running mates?

Jen Beck does not challenge Ellen Karcher?

Does Lillian Burry run against Karcher?

Lots of airbathers on the Amazon, Will. I don't think Lisa's one of them, though.

1. Thompson does not retire.

2. Anna Little will run in a primary. But, who says it will be with Corodemus. (btw I take back what I said about Anna.)

3. If Lillian plays her cards right she will run for the senate in the convention. If she loses Barham better watch his back. (Look at what I just posted on the Rasta Blog)

4. Karcher and Beck.. Who care they are both lame.

There have been rumors of Sam's impending retirement. So far, Sam's been playing it close to the vest, so nothing solid. Does Rob run? There was talk of him not running for anything, but again I don't know where Rob himself stands. Right now, I would not want to see any sitting freeholders run for other offices. There has been too much turnover in too short a time already. After McMorrow's win, Monmouth County can be officially said to be in the Democrats' (Nor)crosshairs; with control on the line in '07, just watch the bu¢k$ come wheeling in!
That said, does the donation from a PAC connected to developer Jack Morris hurt Rob, or does the fact that he returned it negate the issue? So far, only Courier has reported that, and they just plum don't like Rob, whether or not he returned the contribution. Will the APP pick up on it? Will it matter?
This one just generates more questions than answers.

Steve and Sean had better resolve this, preferably before convention time. With veteran Sen. Joe Palaia retiring, the Dems want this district back. Badly. Mess up this one and count on legislators with "D-11th" after their names. And don't bet on them being 1 term and we're back, either. Can you say, "Pallone"?
Attention Freeholder Little: Stay away from this one! Far away! Bad situation!
(I wouldn't mind seeing Anna in a higher office, but timing is everything!)
Better resolve this guys, or the GOP's hold on the coastal district could go out with the tide.

My understanding was that the directorship was to be rotated among the board members. However, it is said that Bill wants another year. Kind of in the Irwin/Larrison tradition. Would the other freeholders allow that? I wouldn't mind seeing Anna as director, but I don't know if she wants it or has the votes. Like the 11th, they'd better get some cohesion on that board. If not, regardless of who's the director in '07, it could mean Director McMorrow in '08.

Does Bill run for an open Assembly seat? Does he challenge Corodemus and Kean for the Senate seat? If so, could Barham and Little be running mates?

As I said before, let's try to limit turnover on the board for the time being.

Jen Beck does not challenge Ellen Kärcher?

Does Lillian Burry run against Kärcher?

The wolf is at the door, people. A whole pack of them, actually. Wolves with names like Norcross, Hidlay, Corzine, Cullinane, Lesniak, Scudiery and more.

Doesn't matter if Sam retires as long as he doesn't bang anyone...In any case, I think he'll stay because the Dems don't really have much up there in Middletown (this ytr's local race was a fluke!)

Thought i heard corodemus and kean would go to the mini-convention and loser got to retain their assembly seat? that would be smart, and i don't see a dem taking out kean if her runs for the senate. those assembly seats will become incredibly vulnerable if some people consider running, like doherty or devlin.

Bill Barham is not Director next year?

Who cares? GOP might be in trouble next year depending on who the dems field for the freeholder race.

Does Bill run for an open Assembly seat? Does he challenge Corodemus and Kean for the Senate seat? If so, could Barham and Little be running mates?

Bill Barham, two words for you: "Malcom Carton"

Jen Beck does not challenge Ellen Karcher?

Does Lillian Burry run against Karcher?

If beck doesn't runn against ellen, that seat is staying D. even if she does challenge karcher, it still could remain D. Burry is beat and doesn't stand a chance of running for a higher office.

Sam is not retiring, Clifton won't run against Sam, but there is a story floating around Middletown that someone else is actively talking about going after the seat but from the way they are talking it is not a middletown person.

It is amazing what you can learn just sitting in the linccroft inn having a beer and listening to the folks next to you.

Clifton declines to bang Thompson
Monmouth County Freeholder Robert Clifton has decided not to challenge Assemblyman Samuel Thompson in the 2007 Republican primary, and Republicans say that the 71-year-old legislator appears to be in good shape to win re-nomination for a sixth term. Thompson is from Old Bridge in Middlesex County and there has been speculation that the Monmouth GOP might push him toward retirement.

In 2005, Thompson was the top vote-getter in a three way primary for the two 13th district Assemby seats. Amy Handlin, then a Monmouth County Freeholder, defeated longtime incumbent Joseph Azzolina by a 624 vote margin.

Democrats have still not decided if they will make a serious bid to unseat Thompson and Handlin next year. Former Assemblyman William Flynn is still mullling a run for the Legislature.
