Malcolm Carton to Anna Little: What do you want from me for $400K?

Get the your own data on my bills since you're so smart.

Shut down the county if you want lower legal bills.

County Counsel Malcolm V. Carton has openly defied his new boss, Freeholder Anna C. Little. Little is the Freeholder responsible for overseeing the county Legal Department.

Carton and Freeholder Director Bill Barham have been rumoured to be the forces behind the campaign to discredit Little and remove her from office.

Meanwhile, in the new Lincoln/Reagan/Seward poll, after 24 hours Anna Little is leading her challengers with 60% of the vote. Marlboro Councilman Jeff Cantor, who is on active military duty is second with 26%. Spring Lake Councilman Brain Reilly has 11% and Bill Barham's choice, Ocean Township Committeeman J. David Hier has one vote.

NOTE: Poll results are not scientific and reflect the opinions of only those users who chose to participate. Adam Puharic believes in the veracity of online polls.

We condone jackasses as republicans so why are we complaining?

Politics is interesting in that you often cannot determine the precise point in a downfall of a party. Here it is more of a cumulative stupidity. Malcolm should never have emerged as anything other than some weirdo jerkoff attorney who needed to be fired. He is the utter definition of a hump.
Now, he is allowed to be part of the avalanche of stupidity. There has been so much entitlement and arrogance that it is almost funny/sad. Jerkoffs like Tom Powers and Bill Barham and do nothings such as Clifton share the landscape of poor leadership. Is there any wonder why we are getting crushed? Look no further than ourselves for condoning jackasses. The voters of Monmouth County will justifiably POUND THIS PARTY INTO THE GROUND if normal people do not set this straight before the summer.

Ironically, the birth name of Malcolm X was Malcolm Little.

Carton is beginning to sound like Dud. "None of your business."

Carton is the best thing for Anna Little's campaign. She was being made to look unstable by the other Freeholders. Carton just validated all her rhetoric.

I was going to write about this on monday, but I'll just post it here instead:

I've read alot of politivcal literature over the years, from Machiavelli to Sun-Tzu, Halberstam, Friedman, many others, and no where have I seen the "Let's be an asshole" philosophy successfully used to further one's career indefinitely.

A favorite phrase of mine is "Pigs get slaughtered". Don't be sucha greedy jackass. It catches up to you eventually. See, e.g. Wayne Bryant, any Operation Bid Rig defendant.

Malcontent Carton, your time is up.

Don't blame Malcolm. He's a businessman. There's nothing wrong with his trying to earn money as long as he doesn't violate the law. If there is a problem with his billing or his work, that is the fault of the freeholders who are giving him free reign. There will likely be a primary in June. All republicans should use as a litmus test whether the republican candidate is willing to stand up to Malcolm and not let him do what he's doing. If Clifton doesn't have the "necessaries" to protect the public from Carton, don't vote for him. Period. Let's here from the other candidate wannabes what their position on Carton is, BEFORE we vote.

Thanks to Dion, Abraham, Martin and John.

Has anybody here seen our Grand Old Party
Can you tell me where it’s gone
We elected a lot of people
But it seems that those days all are fading
You know, I looked around and their gone

Anybody here seen our Grand Old Party
Can you tell me where it’s gone
Our great leaders have left us
We’re being run by vicious fools
Adam, Malcolm and Barham.

Anybody here seen our Grand Old Party
We were out on top for decades
We controlled the county
We never ever lost a race
Before Adam, Malcolm and Barham

Didn’t you love the things that we stood for?
Wasn’t our County the best that it could be
But now it’s gone
Adam’s still here, and we’re gonna keep losing

Anybody here seen our Grand Old Party
Can you tell me where it’s gone
Maybe it’ll come back when we finally get rid of
Adam, Malcolm and Barham

Rob Clifton lead the charge to oust Carton. How is to protect the public when he did not get the support from the rest of the Board - you should ask Bill, Lillian and Ted why they did not support Rob!

You could be right. Now you have Barbara McMurrow and Anna Little on the board with Clifton. That's three votes. If Clifton really is sincere about getting rid of Carton he can do it at the next meeting. Let's see if you're right. If he makes the motion at the next meeting, I'll believe you. If not, well, talk is cheap.

There is nothing to do at this point. The County Counsel appointment is for three years by Statute.Lillian and Bill knew that at the time, but, sadly, reappointed Malcolm anyway. The thing to do now is cut the amount of money he makes so he leaves.Otherwise, expect a "D" law firm to hold the position next.

Trevanian is partial right - now there are three but unless Carton has violated his contract or the law, the three votes to dump are meaningless - last year was the year. Now we are stuck. It could not have been easy or very pleasant for Anna or Rob after that vote. I am superised there was not a move to dump Rob.

Not true. Here's where the rules of ethics that bind Malcolm come into play. Don't get snowed by the statutory language. NO ATTORNEY IS PERMITTED TO CONTINUE REPRESENTING A CLIENT AGAINST THEIR WILL. That supersedes any statutory term. If the majority of the freeholders ask him to resign, HE MUST. So sorry, but Clifton doesn't get off that easily.

Sadly, the Courts have ruled otherwise

They have absolutely not ruled otherwise -- not regarding attorneys. The other professions don't have the same codified ethical restrictions.
