Oxley to Puharic: Pound Salt

UPDATE

The APP is reporting that Oxley will not seek re-election, saying that he wants to "go out on top of his game."

Sheriff Joe Oxley showed up for the screening committee today, gave the group of 24 plus Adam Puharic a piece of his mind and told them he is not seeking their support.

Contray to what is being reported by Ronald Reagan, Oxley did not say he is not running for re-election.

Contrary to Puharic's "Wireside Chats" and statements to the press, Oxley never filed a letter of intent with the party and never submitted a background check questionnaire or contract.

Oxley has joined Anna Litte in standing up to the Puharicization of the Monmouth GOP. Neither Little nor Oxley have announced their plans for re-election.

Talk of an alternative line in the June 9th primary is increasing. Speculation is that Jim Giannell supporters and the Walsh camp in Howell may join forces to lead such an effort.

A high placed source in the Monmouth Democratic Party said that both Joe Oxley and Anna Little would have strong support and would likely be nominated if either of them switched partys.

Pressure on Adam Puharic to resign as chairman is increasing.

No disrespect but maybe you should correct your posting. ;-)

No disrespect taken, nor intended.

For now, I'll stand by my sources that say Joe did not tell the screening committee he wasn't running. That doesn't mean the APP got it wrong either.

Let's see how this plays out.

You and I both know Joe well enough to know that there is more to this story.

Agreed. Joe's comment to the APP show what a true gentleman he is. But, in reality, Joe is very tight lipped and we may never know the full story. That's what makes Joe so well liked.

I wish Joe had gone public with what I am told he said to the screening committee.
If he or some other high ranking elected official not involved in this mess would come out and demand Puharics resignation I bet a lot of municipal leaders would join them.
With out that support it would be a futile gesture. You would just be labeled as a malcontent and your involvment in the party marginalized.

As usual, you are right on spot TR.

For whatever reasons, there are no prominent leaders willing to step up and stop this train wreck.

I'm told that several have attempted to intervene behind the scenes, to no avail.

Joe's public statements show his usual class and diplomatic manner. However, that he made his announcement after meeting with the screening committee, rather than several weeks ago, as Steve Corodemus did, tells another story.

While doing my background check on Adam, I came across a site where students of a class he taught at Montclair State reviewed him. One was very telling. Adam's creed, according to one reviewer, is Adapt, Overcome, Win. Many of his actions and statements make a strang kind of sense when viewed through that prism.

Unfortunately for our party, the only way for Adam to win at this point to to change games, but he is not inclined to do so. As I've indicated before, he would rather take everyone down than let his critics "win."

Adam's new job gave him a perfect opportunity to bow out gracefully. Who could blame him for acceptng such a good job for the betterment of his family.

Rather than doing so, he tried to skate by hoping no one would notice he was subject to the Hatch Act in his new position. When caught, he "adapted and overcame" with a "firewall" but didn't win. Now he's trying to cover his tracks for Hatch Act violations committed during his first week in his new job.

He can still bow out gracefully, but time is running very short, less than 24 hours, before this "malcontent" turns the heat up higher.

Adapt,Overcome,Win. Sounds more like one of those quasi-cult motivational seminars than a political or PR philosophy.

I spoke to several people at the screening committee and they say Joe gave no indication at all that he had a problem with Puharic.
I like these blogs but where are you guys getting your info.
