The chatter is getting even weirder

Republican Chairman Puharic has sent out his plea to the rank and file to lobby the Republican Freeholders not to pass the proposed anti pay to play and wheeling resolutions 3 times since last evening.

The Asbury Park Press has Puharic's letter as Breaking News on their website. Make sure you read the comments from the public. No doubt it will be on the front page tomorrow, with an editorial to follow on Sunday.

The two Freeholders meetings tomorrow, the workshop in Freehold in the afternoon and the regular meeting in Middletown in the evening will be circuses.

Has anyone else noticed how quiet the Democratric Freeholder candidates have been? Is it any wonder? If I were Vic Scudiery, I'd advise my candidates to lay low until Columbus Day and watch the Republicans self distruct.

Hopefully Rob Clifton will step up with a sensible yet bold solution to this quagmire, salvage his candidacy and establish himself as a leader.

This is your golden opportunity Robby. Don't let it pass and don't worry about who you piss off. They're not looking out for you anyway.

Agree, this is the time for CLifton to be bold and show leadership. Oddly, Adam is right in what he is asking for, but it should not be buried in some committee. Let them put in forth and vote Thursday for a far reaching bill that would look at all contributions, including the costly union money. Rob and Anna should take the lead, then levae it to Mcmorrow to see if the d's want change or if they are just talking.

It almost makes me feel sorry for lawyers and engineers. For years they new how the system worked . Donate money to candidates and after the election ask them for a job.
If you had not donated money you had no chance. Donations gave you a shot.
I bet most of them will be glad to see that system gone. They did not like it but they had no choice. It will mean more money in their pockets.
In the meantime however the system is in disarray. To give or not to give that is the question. Either option could cost you a job.

Various insiders are reporting that Adam really doesn't want any pay to pay or wheeling resolution, or at the very least wants the summer to raise money the old fashioned way. This is all spin, and bad spin at that.

Others have suggested that this is Adam's attempt to get the Administrator's appointment off the front page. That would be cleaver and stupid at the same time.

The crack Decoder Team here at the Monmouth County republican Blog have deciphered the following from between Adam's lines:

"Rob, Bill and Lillian, listen up. You, too, Jeff. Listen up good. Real good.
Does the name 'Anna Little' sound familiar? Of course it does. See what I did to her? Don't think for one minute that I wouldn't turn on you in the same way. Think e-mails from your constituents is bad? Try swallowing more changes in the candidate selection process. And my dear friend RastaMan is still on line. Wanna be the subject of one of his posts?"

The old chairman had an ace as a press release writter, this would not have happened in the past.

Thanks "Ronny" :-) (it was the writter that gave you away...that and the plug for the old chairman and his ace)

Sorry, Art...wrong. That post wasn't yours truly.

While some people care about "Pay-to-Play" I've never seen a poll that says the electorate cares either.

But I do like Tobin (the "ace") and Fred....no question about it they were good for Monmouth Republicans as the recent past and near future will prove.

GO, FRED, GO!!! (THOMPSON, THAT IS)

:-)

Here's an easy fix - pass the pay to play law exactly as common cause wants it.

Then make the date it becomes effective to be the day after the legislature passes a ban on county to county wheeling.

If they want pay to play bans, it will be sitting right there waiting for them. We will have passed the law. It will be up to the Dems to make it effective. Puts the ball in their court and we're off the hook.

There is precedent for such action.

In New Jersey it is against the law to sell a gun that does not have smart gun technology which recognizes the palm print of the owner, and if it isn't the owner, it won't fire.

What is the date the law becomes effective? After the attorney general certifies that such technology has been invented (I kid you not). It's on the books.

Welcome Tommy.

I like your solution, but it still doesn't address unrestrained union contributions. If we are going to limit vendors from contributing, we need to limit unions as well. This most recent union deal on the state level demonstrates that the unions are a bigger problem than vendors.

I suspect that banning union contributions would face some significant constitutional problems

It certainly would. Just as restricting vendor contributions restricts their 1st Amendment rights. Just as restricting the amount I can give to any candidate violates my 1st Amendment rights.

If we're going to restrict some peoples rights let's restrict everyones.

Let the unions spend their money taking it to the Supreme Court for all of us.
