More Screening Committee News

Adam Puharic told the Asbury Park Press that the Freeholder selection was a three way tie between John Curley, Serena DiMaso and Steven Walsh. MoreMonmouthMusings has gotten conflicting reports, one that is consistent with Puharic's report of a tie, and another that Curley was the favorite of the vast majority of screening committee members, and that DiMaso and Walsh were tied for second.

According to the press, Puharic said that he is empowered by the party's by-laws to make a selection in the event of a tie. There are no party by-laws and Puharic's resolution creating the rules for this year's screening process did not address the possibility of a tie.

For other offices, according to the APP and Poitickernj, Anne Estabrook was awarded the party's endorsement for US Senate. Keyport attorney Robert E. McLeod was awarded the endorsement for US Congress in the 6th district (Frank Pallone's district) and Holmdell Committeeman Alan Bateman was awarded the endorsement for US Congress in the 12th district (Rush Holt's)

Apparently, the convention will not have a say in the selection of the Congressional nominations. Puharic's resolution of January 2, 2008 said, "The screening committee shall recommend no more than two (2) persons per vacant office to be forwarded to the County Convention."

The games have officially begun.

Is it even known that there more than 2 House Congressional Representative candidates? There were two for Senate I believe.

John Curley is an independent thinker ( that means resists control by others ) Adam Puharic could NEVER stand that ). Good luck to JOHN in his endeavor as he may be the only hope so far for a candidate that the PEOPLE will vote for as a republican in this election year.

You have got to be kidding me. Is this a conspiracy and did the Democrats pick these candidates? Oh my lord...this is a train wreck. Nice people but not a leadr among them. Its obvious that the decent candidates all stayed home. What about trying to go out and recruit some decent candidates? Mel Hood would have been really good, Anthony Amiano of Freehold would have been strong, Joe Dibella of Howell would have been excellent and anyone from Middletown would have been smart, and the list goes on. Adam is in la-la land and had better go out and start recruiting some real candidates. The genius sends out email blasts and thinks people will just show up. I hear the party leadership (an oxymoron now) are banking on the fact that its a presidential year and so the R's will just come out in numbers to vote against Hillary or Obama and no matter who our Freeholder candidates are will win. This is a terrible strategy. Pick the best candidates every time. Get some guts and attract some strong candidates. Its like we are the 62 Mets here for God sake.

Maybe there are some more "C-" players we can get as candidates? Are there some losing people hanging around that we can sign up? Ed Stominski looks good at this point!

Forget Howell Mayor Dibella. He actually won the nomination last year but was "_ucked" out of it because people had it out for Fred and took it out on him. They guy is a class act and took the high road and did not challenge the scam of an election. Why would you want Dibella to run; all he does is get elected by wide margins so that disqualifies him as a county wide candidate. We want people of little accomplishment that will meet the requirements of the "fringe nuts" that now run the party through intimidation and lunacy. Poor Harry is turning over in his grave as 30 years of hard work go down the drain because we curry to the Press that will screw us no matter what we do and to the wackos that have hijacked the party the last few years.

curley is a stand up guy for red bank and beyond. bateman will get pulverized, should be fun and sort of pathetic to watch. dimaso will knife lillian in the back of the neck at the first chance. adam, well, adam should really focus on real life before the home equity runs dry...pathetic and sad

Oh yeah thats good Harry "the Godfather" Larrison turning over in his grave because the "fringe Nuts" became tired of the corruption in the party. Yeah if it wasn't for the fringe nuts the highly qualified John Merla would have been a Freeholder. You really want to go there.
You must be one of those people who is going to get a huge pension off the back of the taxpayers for your 9 part time jobs.

Dibella might be a good candidate but he lost the election before the county committee fair and square. Sorry if you do not like the democraqtic process Mr. Stalin.

As to the anom dissing Bateman and Di Masso. You must be a terrance Groupie. Serena and Alan are both class acts in my book. I will be happy to support both of them.
