Kyrillos is not the retiring type
Contrary what Wally Edge is reporting, State Senator Joe Kryillos is not seeking to be the GOP nominee for Lieutenant Governor in 2009. He assumes he is running for re-election in 2012, and said, "everyone else should assume I'm running again as well."
Kyrillos told MoreMonmouthMusings, "no one runs for Lieutenant Governor, and I am not pursuing it at all." "There are many good people being talked about, including Monmouth County's Jennifer Beck."
Kryillos and U.S. Attorney Christopher Christie have a long and close personal friendship. Christie introduced Kryillos and his wife Susan to each other.
There is a great deal of speculation that Christie will be the GOP nominee for Governor in 2009. Former Bogota Mayor Steve Lonegan is another often mentioned probable candidate. Neither Christie or Lonegan have announced their candidacies. Both would have to leave their current jobs if they became candidates. The eventual nominee will choose the candidate for Lieutenant Governor.
Kyrillos said that despite the frustrations of being in the minority, he loves serving in the Senate, where this session he is the primary sponsor of 95 bills, and co-sponsor of another 35.
