D'Amico protests too much

Caliendo parrot Middletown Mike was so upset by the coverage that Barry Goldwater and I have been giving to the endangered Freeholder candidacy of Amy Mallet that he called Freeholder Director wannabee John D'Amico to plead, "Say it ain't so D'Amico!"

Sounding very much in charge, D'Amico told Mike, "..there is no truth whatsoever in any statements that he has ever wanted or sought to have Amy Mallet dropped from the county's ticket. He also stated to me that there is absolutely no possibility that Mallet will be dropped,' and, "he looks forward to working with both Amy Mallet and her running mate..., after their election to the Board of Choosen Freeholders this November."

Sounds like Steinbrenner giving Billy Martin a vote of confidence.

What D'Amico didn't address was Mallet's enduring six figure debt from her unsuccessful Assembly race, or how it is to be repaid. Mike, call him back and ask him about that.

Mike also says that D'Amico denies his bad behavior towards Freeholder Barbara McMorrow, as reported by Barry Goldwater. D'Amcio said, "I have the utmost respect for Barbara McMorrow as a person and Freeholder and I look forward to working with her now and for many years to come." That's nice, but does she make a good cup of coffee?

McMorrow's unhappiness with D'Amico's pomposity has been an open secret for months. Mike, when you call D'Amico back about Mallet's debt, also ask him if he ever told McMorrow to get him coffee.

For his empty support of Amy Mallet and feigned respect for Barbara McMorrow, Freeholder Director wannabee John D'Amico is awarded this week's Obie Award.

You obviously have never met Barbara McMorrow. She's a tough woman. She was a school principal, that should tell you something. She's smart, quick witted and a genuinely nice person that doesn't stand for bullshit in any shape. She ran two hard fought campaigns and the only reason she lost the first one was because of Brian Unger running on the Green Party ticket.

The whole world loves Barbara Mc Morrow !!!!!!She's a credit to the freeholder board and a gift to the people of Monmouth County. Should the dems win a majority...BIG IF,she should be freeholder director. D 'Amico seems a pompous individual just like Barham was and you see what happened to him!!Frankly I don't see defeat for the current director or her running mate. They are both more qualified than the two democrats running and that has more to do with who they are than their party affiliation. What will be will be and don't worry,Barbara knows how to take care of pompous individuals !!!

You mean Mallet really isn't over $100K in debt from her 2003 campaign?

I don't know whether she is or she isn't...but I do know that Barbara McMorrow doesn't get mistreated by Judge D'Amico as you and Barry rumored.

You know what I meant. But nice try.

You know that how? Don't be so sure. Barry didn't make it up. I know that because I heard about it months ago.

see, good to know the D's don't always play well with each other in their own sandbox, either: egos exist that overshadow their greater purpose, on both sides.. absolutely agree/have seen,'da Judge can't wait to set the platform for his flat-form '08 candidates, and absolutely he'd take Dir. first, if he could..whomever, ya need 3 votes come Jan. re-org.. we need to put their ambitions aside again this year, whether they're tusseling each other or not, or our dance, just beginning again, will be over for a long time!..
