This is from an Obama campaign event in Pennsylvania in early September....
"I believe in the Second Amendment, and if you are a law-abiding gun owner you have nothing to fear from an Obama administration," Obama said. "This has been peddled again and again. Here's what I believe: The Second Amendment is an indvidual right. . . people have the right to bear arms. But I also believe there is nothing wrong with some common-sense gun safety measures."
More Rovian lies by the Republicans. From the "lets just lie" republican campaign playbook.
Look at the last part of the quote Rick. Unfortunately Obama thinks restrictions on hunting rifles, banning hand guns, and the previous DC hand gun ban are "common sense gun safety measures." His "common sense gun safety measures" would eventualy effectively ban guns and override the 2nd Amendment.
Oh, yes...every hunter needs an AK-47 or Uzi to go shooting deer with. Its all the rage.
Gimme a break. There are already controls on what types of guns you can buy and what type of ammo you can buy. (can you say hollow point?). No one is trying to take away your right to go out and kill little animals. Its just another Rovian scare tactic. The politics of fear all over again.
You want politics of fear? How about the basic Democrat tenet that without the government to give you things, you will not be able to make it in this country? The fact is, the "change" that Obama is promising is radical and contrary to everything this country stands for and what's worse, contrary to everything that made it great. When you have a candidate who surrounds himself with America-haters and supports policies that would be embraced by Marx and Engels, you have a real danger to the country.
Can you post exactly where you got the information that Obama is taking guns away from hunters? There are hunters in my family so I'd really like to see where this came from.
The problem with factcheck is that is makes an assumption based off of what Senator Obama said, rather than his past votes.
That's kind of silly to go off what someone says during campaign season, rather than their votes.
Their was another source I saw on this - fact checking factcheck, but it was done by the national review (just as partisan as fox) http://campaignspot.nationalreview.com/post/?q=MmQ4ZTRiZGNkMTIwNTczODI5NjZlZDE0MjMyNDcxNDA=
The NRA is going by votes of Obama, mostly when he was a state senator in illinois. It's definately more credible than just going by what he says.
If you check this link: http://www.gunbanobama.com/Default.aspx?NavGuid=530ecfa4-ae4e-4819-97e6-892463d99f08
You'll see that the sources (shown on the bottom) are mostly Illinois State Senate votes.
As much as I don't like to be one crying bias, it seems that fact check needs someone to fact check it sometimes. The CNN political ticker has often used it to attack McCain, although if you go to the site they do go against some of the things Obama says it as well.
"There is no other website out there with more influence in Central NJ. " ~ Adam Geller, CEO, National Research
" I read your blog all the time." ~ Chris Christie (April 6, 2009 while a candidate for Governor)
"More Monmouth Musings is a must-read. Art Gallagher skillfully covers local, state and national affairs and his blog is a definite stop on the daily news round up. A respected conservative, Art knows when to question conventional wisdom and his guest commentators provide an array of opinions on everything from the State House to the school board." ~ Senator Joe Kyrillos
" dung droppings" ~ commenter on Frank Pallone's facebook page.
"Can't speak for bigoted ignoramuses though so I'll leave that to you and yours." ~ Kathy Baratta
"Retarded" ~ Adam Puharic, former Monmouth County GOP Chairman
"More Monmouth Musings is a romping and rambunctious meeting place for the politically-engaged, and Art Gallagher is the incomparable ringmaster of this unique domain. " ~Scott Sipprelle, future Congressman
"Oh my goodness!" ~ Mayor Anna Little, future Congresswoman
"The most influential conservative in Central Jersey and Dean of the N.J. Conservative Blogging Caucus. First site I check every day... after my own!" ~ Matt Rooney, SaveJersey.com
"MMM is a great source of insider gossip and news in the conservative wing of the Republican Party and the Tea Party. I don’t agree with everything I read, but I keep taking a look- it is definitely entertaining. However, MMM would be better and could have far greater credibility if Art Gallagher didn’t display his biases quite so obviously and ran an unbiased forum for discussion. Actions speak louder than words.
In no recent candidate is this more true than Obama.

Oh, you mean like the socialist program of a Wall Street bailout?
Stop trying to scare yourself...I think we'll survive once Obama gets in.

Here's the truth from factcheck.org:

Nobody is messing with hunters.
The FoxNews article counters the factcheck article.
I guess it depends on which Obama you believe.
Perhaps that's because Fox news is a Republican station?
Is there any other documentation besides Fox?
