Purcell steps down. That was easy.

Courier Caliendo Crier publisher Jim Purcell announced that he is no longer writing editorials for the tabloid. Managing Editor Somdatta Sengupta will be writing the opinion pieces for the paper for the foreseeable future.

Purcell also turned his blog over to Senior Staff Writer Alyssa Passeggio.

In my experience, both Sengupta and Passeggio exhibit professionalism and class in their jobs. This is a good move by the paper's management.

Hopefully Sengupta and Passeggio will be able to untrain their Junior Staff Writer from the bad habits she picked up from Purcell. Bayshore readers want news from the paper, not sensationalized trivia exploited to forward a political agenda.

In order to more fully restore their integrity, credibility and reputation, the paper should pull Middletown Democratic chairman Joe Caliendo's column. Otherwise, the tabloid will remain nothing more than a political flyer with a continuing decline in readership and advertising. The Asbury Park Press's Community Reporter, which is delivered free to all residents, will displace the tabloid as the printed "The Voice of the Bayshore."

The APP isn't mailing the Communiy Reporter to the section of Middletown I live in....get your facts straight or stop issuing your venom because you are a misguided republican.

Could be that you are an APP subscriber. While rolling out the Community Reporter earlier this year, Former APP Managing Editor Skip Hidlay told me that the Community Reporter is delivered free to all subscribers and mailed to all non-subscribers.

BTW, do you know of any place in New Jersey where Democrats are doing a better job governing than Republicans are in Middletown or Monmouth County?

Paging Bitter...party of one.... my Lord man, stop your damn whining! You got your way,Purcell isn't writing the editorial anymore, you can stop the hissy fit now. Also, did ya ever get to fist bump Michelle? The thing you keep neglecting to mention is that the Obama campaign is NOT using gov't cash to finance themselves, while McCain has the GOP war chest. If there are enough folks out there that want to pay, why do you have to stomp your feet and bitch about it? Why not let us in on how much you've contributed to the McCain fund? For someone of your age, you're acting mighty infantile. Grow up.

No

The thing you keep neglecting to mention is that the Obama campaign is NOT using gov't cash to finance themselves, while McCain has the GOP war chest.

Another broken promise by Obie

What about all that Middle East money I keep reading about? That's probably BS, like Palin faking the birth of her baby. Or not.

Why not let us in on how much you've contributed to the McCain fund?
$2300.00. How much did you give to Obama?

Paging Bitter...party of one.... my Lord man, stop your damn whining! You got your way,Purcell isn't writing the editorial anymore, you can stop the hissy fit now.

And you keep reading...Why?

For someone of your age, you're acting mighty infantile.

I hope Obama doesn't kill me.

Grow up.

You'll be back

Oh, I almost forgot.

Do you know of any place in New Jersey where Democrats are doing a better job governing than Republicans are doing in Middletown and Monmouth County?

Rantings of a retarded republican.

There's that R-word again. Funny, Adam Puharic used to say the same thing.

BTW, do you know of a place in New Jersey where Democrats are doing a better job governing than Republicans are doing in Middletown or Monmouth County?

As to why I keep reading...let me tell you Art, you're more entertaining than just about anyone. A couple of friends and I open up your blog and sometimes just laugh our selves silly at your one sided, single minded rantings. There's no middle ground in the GOP...the old 'my way or the hiway' is all you guys know. I have a new word for you....ready for it? COMPROMISE. Look it up sweetcakes.

That's nice. But can you name a place in New Jersey where Democrats are doing a better job governing than Republicans are doing in Middletown and Monmouth County?

Tell me where that's happening and I'll write about it. How's that for compromise?
