Democrats for Freeholder Amy Mallet, her running mate, and de facto campaign manager, Bob Jordan of the Asbury Park Press are grasping for straws.
In today's paper, Jordan has an article that implies that Freeholder Director Lillian Burry and her running mate John Curley are not supporting each other because Burry has a web site that doesn't mention Curley. Hogwash.
It took some doing to find the web site. After trying four different search phrases on google, I decided to try guessing the url. On the second try I found it. The site is obviously a draft. There is a great deal more than Curley's name that is missing. There is no "Paid for" disclosure, no contact information, no way to volunteer or contribute to the campaign. The graphics and layout are the work of an amateur. Otherwise, the content is good, but it is not ready for general viewing.
The other reason I know it is a draft is that they didn't send it to me to promote it.
Bankrupt of their own ideas and knowing that there is no place in New Jersey where Democrats are doing a better job governing than Republicans are doing in Monmouth County, Democrat debtor Amy Mallet and her running mate are trying to exploit differences between Republicans and fabricate new differences where there aren't any. They have apparently conceded Curley's election and are now targeting Burry in a desparate attempt to turn Monmouth County over to Jon Corzine, Dick Codey and Joe Roberts.
Next up will be Democratic campaign literature that features on the record policy statements of former Freeholder Anna Little, twisted to sound as if Little supports the Democrats over Burry. She doesn't. The reason she doesn't is because she knows that there is no where in New Jersey where Democrats are doing a better job governing than Republicans are doing in Monmouth County.

How pathetic. If these two jokers think they are going to win an election on this kind of stuff, the Camden Democrats may want to rethink their decision to pay Mallet's campaign debt and let her sink.
While this is a stupid non-story, why the heck don't burry and curley have a website? There's nothing on the county gop site either. In this day and age this should be more than an afterthought. At this point its a little late to be thinking about websites, but they should have at least had one since labor day.
Its just amazing how there are never ANY issues with the republicans.
Everything is a non-issue.
I think the listing on the house tour, and the evident animosity between Madame Burry and Curly should be brought to light, which it has. Its wild how you can just dismiss these two issues as if nothing has happened.
Are there Democrats running for Freeholder this year? I haven't seen or heard of them.
Rick,
Let's review this house tour situation shall we?
The houses picked for the tour weren't by Burry. She had nothing to do with the process of selecting houses for this tour.
Any for sale signs and cards were taken off the specific property in question.
So the only way anyone on the tour actually knew the house was for sale was the app article talking about it. If they don't read the APP or didnt even know the specific house the article was talking about they had no clue the house was for sale.
So where's the conflict of interest here?!
I love this "website" issue too. The APP has blasted County Republicans for years for being corrupt and working in unison. So when the new candidate running showcases his independence and free-thinking attitude and proves that he may disagree with his own party sometimes, they say it's an issue too and make a big deal that he's not included on a draft of his running mate's website.
If he was included wouldn't they probably say he is just another "corrupt" Monmouth County Republican and agrees with the "establishment"?
It seems like they put Curley in a no-win situation...they link the party in power to corruption but then when he proves over and over again that he's independent and will do what's best for the taxpayers they question why he is running a bit of a seperate campaign.
It's just a contrast in styles..we all know it. Curley is a door to door shoe leather guy and Burry isn't. It's not a knock on her..it's a compliment to him.
If this is all they got against Burry you can forget this election for two-time (or is it three?) loser Mallet and whatever her running mate's name is again.
