The Monmouth County blogosphere lost a key player and a sane voice this week when "Barry Goldwater" signed off and stopped writing Voice of Reason.
Since Honest Abe came on to the scene over three years ago, blogs have changed Monmouth County politics, for better or worse.
In terms a impacting a general election, there can be little argument that "Goldwater" has been the most influential blogger. Barry broke the Ellen Karcher Christmas tree farm story in April of 2007, which contributed mightily to Jennifer Beck's victory and the return of the 12th Legislative District to the GOP.
Like "Teddy Roosevelt" and "Ronald Reagan" who left before him, "Barry Goldwater's" voice will be missed. However, also like "Teddy" and "Ron" the man or woman behind the voice will continue to make a difference, though as "Goldwater" said in his farewell, we might not know it.
