TIME FOR CORZINE TO PUT HIS MOUTH WHERE HIS MONEY IS: WHAT SAY YE ON FERRIERO FUTURE?

--With Bergen Dems Meeting Tonight, Corzine Has Chance To Walk The Walk On Fighting Corruption --

Trenton, NJ – New Jersey Republican State Chairman Tom Wilson issued the following statement today:

“Jon Corzine is the head of the Democratic Party in New Jersey. He has been a very generous and consistent supporter and beneficiary of Joe Ferriero and the Bergen Democratic machine. Since 1999, he and his immediate family have given Joe Ferriero $405,000, including a $37,000 check from his 89-year-old mother who lives in Illinois and who’s probably never even set foot in Bergen County. Despite his demonstrated interest in the party, Jon Corzine hasn’t had the courage to put his mouth where his money is and take a public stand on whether the Democratic Party in New Jersey’s largest county should be run by a man under indictment for defrauding taxpayers.

With the Bergen County Democrats scheduled to meet tonight to discuss the fate of indicted Chairman Joe Ferriero, it’s time for Jon Corzine to let the public know whether or not he supports the move by Congressman Steve Rothman to remove Ferriero immediately. With comparatively minor players, like Bergenfield Mayor Tim Driscoll, standing up to say that ‘the party is corrupt at the top,[1]’ Corzine’s refusal to publicly call for Ferriero’s resignation is not only embarrassing, but a clear indicator that all of Corzine’s talk about fighting corruption is just plain phony

For years, Jon Corzine has talked the talk when it comes to fighting corruption and removing those who abuse the public treasury to enrich themselves. Sadly Corzine never seems to back those words up with any meaningful action. When it comes to getting serious about ridding politics of bad actors who defraud the public, bring shame to the Democratic Party, and contribute to New Jersey’s reputation as the Corruption Capital of American, Jon Corzine’s silence makes him part of the problem, not part of the solution.”
