Neptune Republican Mel Hood has a Letter to the Editor in today's Asbury Park Press where he makes the case against Deputy D'Amico's proposal for a Monmouth County Inspector General.
Hood sounds like a potential candidate for Freeholder. He would be a good one.

Mel Hood voted to take my family's business by Eminent Domain to give it to a developer.
A thriving family business that employs a dozen people to support their families.
If he runs for office, I'll make sure no one forgets it either.
There were other Neptune "Republicans" that voted that way, and they can all wear that vote like a Scarlet Letter.
FLIPPY'S OUT OF TIME
(With apologies to Mick Jagger & Keith Richards)
NOTE: There are parts in the Stones' original where the boys sing "bop, bop" behind Mick's lead. In this version, substitute "flop, flop" for "bop, bop".
You don't know what's going on,
You've been away for far too long
But you can't come back and be the first in line,
You're out of touch my Flippy,
My poor discarded Flippy
I said Flippy, Flippy, Flippy, you're out of time
Flippy, Flippy, Flippy, you're out of time
I said Flippy, Flippy, Flippy, you're out of time
You are all left out
Out of there without a doubt
'cause Flippy, Flippy, Flippy, you're out of time
A pol who wants to run away (Run away)
Discovers that he's had his day (Had his day)
It don't help ya sayin' you belong to Cryan, oh no
You're out of touch my Flippy
My poor unfaithful Flippy
I said Flippy, Flippy, Flippy you're out of time
Well, Flippy, Flippy, Flippy, you're out of time
I said Flippy, Flippy, Flippy, you're out of time
You are all left out
Out of there without a doubt
'cause Flippy, Flippy, Flippy, you're out of time
You thought you were a clever pol, (Clever pol)
You pushed Inspector General (General)
You can't come back and think it's all just fine, oh no
You're obsolete, my Flippy,
My poor old fashioned Flippy
I said Flippy, Flippy, Flippy, you're out of time
Flippy, Flippy, Flippy, you're out of time
I said Flippy, Flippy, Flippy, you're out of time
Yes, you are left out
Out of there without a doubt
'Cause Flippy, Flippy, Flippy, you're out of time
Well, Flippy, Flippy, Flippy, you're out of time
I said Flippy, Flippy, Flippy, you're out of time
Yes, you are left out, yes, you are
I said you're left out of there without a doubt
'Cause Flippy, Flippy, Flippy, you're out of time
I said Flippy, Flippy, Flippy, you're out of time... (to fade)
Mel's spot-on with this letter. As to him running for freeholder, I don't know if he's interested or not, but the Neptune thing concerns me. We need that town, but if Mel's a part of the eminent domain crowd, I'll have to pass on him for any higher office.
Inspector Generals in the Federal Government usually provide two separate functions. They were created by Reagan to ferret out waste and fraud.
1. Audits exposed waste to be changed by rule, policy or legislation.
Inverstigations that build fraud cases to be handled by the prosecutor.
The Federal Government being so large and U.S. Attorneys are usually targeting big issues. the IG assists.
For a county Prosecutor that does not have so much on their plate it seems an IG for investigation is a waste. We do not have large entitlement programs or so many contracts that require continuous investigation or even audit.
In this county all that seems needed is an occasional audit to insure programs are efficient and not wasteful. That would not be needed every year and could easily be contracted out to save the benefits and staff of an IG.
Just my opinion.
Maybe if his name was Melanie...we could run her.
Not that I think we'll beat McMorrow tho...
of all towns to need a base from, in another tough year with a popular, known incumbent, sorry, Neptune Twp. just ain't it!!!.. (check how badly we lost there last year!!)
