Sabrin Blasts Lonegan

Murray Sabrin, the Ramapo College Professor who has run for NJ Governor as a Libertarian and for the the GOP nomination for U.S. Senate, wrote a scathing personal Op/Ed piece about Steve Lonegan for Politickernj.

Among Murray's gems about Lonegan:

"Steve Lonegan is a Steve Lonegan Republican. Steve will do what he believes is in his political interests to advance his political career. "

"A further analysis of Lonegan's 2.9% flat tax plan reveals that it will raise taxes on approximately 90% of New Jerseyans."

"As Noah Webster said: "In selecting men for office, let principle be your guide. Regard not the particular sect or denomination of the candidate--look to his character...."

Steve Lonegan has shown little character in the past year, and as my late father would say, "He is not a mensch." "

I don't see Sabrin's endorsement of Christie making the difference in the race, far from it. However, having a scorned ally like Sabrin stepping up to blast Lonegan in the final weeks of the campaign does will not help the former Bogota Mayor.

For those of us who follow this stuff know that Sabrin is a sore looser. He got no respect from the establishment during his senate run. I'm sure Christie promised him a seat at the table. Thats the way the game is played. No one knows who he is anyway. In fact, the average republican is just waking up to the fact that there is a primary and just figuring out the names of those running.

It comes down to a two week run to the finish.

i am no fan of libertarianismbut I give Sabrin credit for being a good judge of character. This has been my view of Lonegan for awhile.
He screwed Schundler in the last primary not on conservative principle but purely for political reasons.
he tried to ride the anti immigrant train untill he got caught hiring illegals.
All indications of a a flawed character.

Steve is out for Steve - not for the taxpayers, not to represent his party. It's sad to see a guy with so much talent and so much to offer consumed by his own self-centered desires. The evidence of Steve's lack of electability is his bashing of anyone who supports Christie or anyone who doesn't automatically fall at his feet. You need to attract people to your campaign, not drive them away.

For all of you Lonegan bashers, Steve Lonegan will paralyze spending and government in Trenton. For those of you who cannot connect the dots, this is like a POW who for four years will not have to be water boarded. But go ahead elect Christie in two weeks and you will find you have delivered a Thanksgiving turnkey to JC, just early.

The problem with Steve is, anonymous 8:57, is that he cannot win in the general election. He has done his best to push away as many fellow Republicans as possible and turned off a lot of Independents in the meantime. So in the end, it doesn't matter what he would do if he got to Trenton if he has no chance of getting there.

I'm a Christie supporter, but given how well Sabrin did in last year's Senate primary, is Steve Lonegan worrying about what he has to say? If anything, Steve should have learned how NOT to run a primary campaign from Sabrin's diatribe riddled effort last year. Maybe if Lonegan refers to Christie as a "Liberal, Loser, Lawyer" he'll get Murray's support back.

So what. if CC wins there will be no real change. You folk just don't get it. If you can not win with real Republican principles whats the point?

I am not thrilled with either one
I do not fully believe either one.

That being said either one is better then governor Bozo and cristy probably has the best chance of winning.

I'm surprised Murray is supporting Christie. This is the first time hes gone with the establishment that I can remember.

Good news today for Christie in the polls...and Christie is getting impressive numbers at these town hall meetings. Lonegan needs to do better than Joe the Plumber.
