Today, Chris Christie announced Monmouth County Sheriff Kim Guadagno as his running mate and Lieutenant Governor candidate. The official announcement was made by video via Christie's social networking sites.
In the video Christie said, "Times are tough and the issues are too serious not to be tackling our state's problems head on. We just cannot afford to do it any other way. That's why you'll see Kim and I all across the state of New Jersey whether it's on their front porches or in diners, talking directly to you, the people of New Jersey about your problems and your concerns."
Guadagno said, "As a Federal Prosecutor and later as the Monmouth County Sheriff, I had to make tough decisions. This is the time in New Jersey's history where we have to make tough decisions, Chris. I am proud to be a part of your team because I know you will face those challenges head on."

What a great day for all of NJ....but especially us here in Monmouth.
She is an excellent choice from a number of perspectives.
She is very approachable . A really nice person. Has not made many enemies in the party but she is not afraid to buck the party either. she launched her political career in monmouth beach bucking barham and has not been afraid to disagree with the Freeholders on issues affecting her department. She is well spoken, smart and will attract the women vote.
The minuses are the ticket is a little heavy with ex prosecuters and we do not know much about her political philosophy but those things could be positives if played right.
I'm glad with Christie's pick, and I like Kim Guadagno a lot, my only concern is that it's becoming too much of a one-sided ticket, both representing law enforcement.
Kim has managed a large department and a large budget - quite successfully I might add. That is all she needs to know for an elected official. You only have to know how to run a business if you are like Obama, who wants to be in the car business, banking business, etc. Otherwise, just deliver services as cost-effectively as possible.
Are there still guards at the Monmouth County jail that are making more than the governor? Has Guadango done anything to curtail overtime costs at the jail -- either before or after some guards were laid-off? Has she done anything to stop guards from abusing sick time in a way that would never be tolerated in the private sector? If Guadango can't manage a jail, why should anyone think she is ready to manage New Jersey?
If the taxpayers were interested in running the Monmouth County jail efficiently, they would turn over operations to a private, for-profit company. Guadagno did little more than maintain the status quo while she was sheriff. She is part of the problem. She is not part of the solution.
oh, stop-pick, pick, pick.. she's smart, attractive, and has done a great job in a tough year: she stood up to the Dems and her folks love her, who wouldn't want law enforcement and their fams' support??..be glad, he could've picked Kathe from Bergen, whom we don't know very well.and, enough with the overtime: they have to cover, by the reg's, and the stupidly-done layoffs aren't Kim's FAULT..look, this is a second good choice for Christie, first the Chair, Webber, now a solid winner for LG.. thus,am feeling better as to our chances, and Curley should kiss their feet: this brings out a more engaged electorate on the county level, and it helps him a lot!!..get with it, Monmouth, this is our chance to prove we're BACK!..and, ps,Jen, get over it, lose the u-tube "Draft Beck" video, it's over..
Just checked out the Draft Jen Beck video. Shamelessly hysterical! Kim is a much better choice.
There is no Republican more liberal then Jen. Did anyone notice the picture of her hugging the bald guy. That was Democratic Mayor Pat Menna. How appropriate.

"More Monmouth Musings is a must-read. Art Gallagher skillfully covers local, state and national affairs and his blog is a definite stop on the daily news round up. A respected conservative, Art knows when to question conventional wisdom and his guest commentators provide an array of opinions on everything from the State House to the school board." ~ Senator Joe Kyrillos

"MMM is a great source of insider gossip and news in the conservative wing of the Republican Party and the Tea Party. I don’t agree with everything I read, but I keep taking a look- it is definitely entertaining. However, MMM would be better and could have far greater credibility if Art Gallagher didn’t display his biases quite so obviously and ran an unbiased forum for discussion. Kim is a phenomenal choice.
Have either of them ever run a business or worked in the private sector for any extended period of time?

It seems to me we could say the same for Obama

A liberal RINO picks a liberal RINO to be his running mate. What a surprise. I'm writing in Steve Lonegan for Governor.
