To the Editor:
I would like to take this opportunity to express my thanks to Senator Jennifer Beck, Assemblyman Declan O’Scanlon and Assemblywoman Caroline Casagrande, as well as to their Legislative staff, for their hard work in assisting the Borough of Oceanport to remediate the pollution from Branchport Creek.
Although the Mayor and Borough Council continue to work with Senator Beck, Assemblyman O’Scanlon and Assemblywoman Casagrande on expediting the schedule for the clean-up, their aid in reaching an agreement with the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority was invaluable. In addition, the Legislators played an essential role in acquiring the funding to make the remediation possible.
As this process moves forward, I am encouraged that with the help of our state representatives, we will once again see a clean and pollutant-free Branchport Creek.

The bacteria counts that boaters, skiers, and other users of the Shrewsbury River will greatly benefit for this work. As a Monmouth Beach resident and river user I'd like to thank these legislators for this work.
Good Job!

What's more telling here is the lack of regard or help from our Federal Representatives (Pallone and Holt). They speak a good game and never fail to get a headline or two, but do nothing to actually remidiate the situation.
Great job by the Oceanport Mayor & Council for keeping this issue in the forefront and by Senator Beck, Assemblyman O'Scanlon and Assemblywoman Casagrande for their efforts in realizing how important this issue is!
I would like to know exactly what Jen Beck did to help with this. I can understand O'Scanlon and Cassagrande doing something since my opinion of them has changed immensely from when they first took office. Both of them actually seem to care about their constituents and have instituted programs and legislation that have served the public. But Jen Beck has done nothing for my district other than to keep her name out there for consideration for the Lt. Gov position, which we now know she didn't get. I have a feeling that since she's the senator, she likes to take some credit for her team's accomplishments...even though she has done little compared to them.
ambrosiajr-
Not that the good Senator needs me defending her but I feel compelled to comment.
All 3 of our Legislators participated in the conference call with the NJDEP that led to the Two Rivers Water Reclamation Authority agreeing to increase the amount of wastewater they accept by up to 200,000 gallons per day. All 3 of our Legislators participated in our Town Hall meeting, in Oceanport, where Monmouth Park gave the presentation on the remediation plan. All 3 of our Legislators agree that the timeline for completion of this project is too long. Finally all 3 of our Legislators have been very responsive to the needs of our community on this and other important issues (COAH, Fort Monmouth, Monmouth Park etc.)
Trust me, we did not always get this kind of help in the past, regardless of political affiliation.
Thanks for allowing me to respond!

Rick,
Jen has done a great job for Coltsneck. She single handedly stopped legislation that would have resulted in Colts neck getting the Earle Civilian kids.
If memory serves me correctly, Senator Beck got the Senate committee which oversees wagering to hold one of their committee meetings at Monmouth Park on Opening Day last year to highlight the pollution issue as well as the plight of the racing and breeding industry in NJ. You can count the number of Legislative committee hearings held outside Trenton in any given year on one hand...that was a nice move by the Senator.
Ambrosia...after the vile things you said about Jen Beck during the Karcher race you have zero credibility on anything regarding her performance in office.
