Dear Supporters,

Since the moment Chris announced Sheriff Kim Guadagno as his running mate nearly two weeks ago, they have been traveling our state talking about bold solutions for New Jersey’s problems. This is in stark contrast to what Jon Corzine and his pick, Loretta Weinberg, are offering voters – more of the same insider politics. This election, however, New Jerseyans are demanding a change.

This week, Chris and Kim toured New Jersey, talking with concerned students, parents, and educators about their plan to revive our state’s higher education system. Each year, 29,000 students leave New Jersey to attend college out-of-state and only 6,000 come in. In fact, New Jersey is ranked dead last in retention of students staying in-state to attend college and has the highest out-migration of high school graduates to attend college of any state in the country. It’s time to make New Jersey an attractive place for students to receive a quality education that will give them the tools to pursue a quality career in their home state.
On Monday, Chris and Kim joined former Governor Tom Kean at The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) to discuss these issues and more with students in person and via Twitter. They also made stops in Westfield, Branchburg, and Mount Laurel to discuss rising tuition costs with parents and educators. The message is clear: higher education must be a priority of any Governor interested in reversing New Jersey's economic course.

The Christie-Guadagno higher education plan focuses on the relationship between a strong economy and a successful higher education system. Unlike the current Administration, Governor Christie will partner with our University Presidents to make sure higher education is a priority.

Highlights from the Christie-Guadagno plan include:
Keeping New Jersey Students in New Jersey.
Linking Higher Education to Quality Jobs.
Realizing Quality Teachers Lead to Quality Education.
Retaining urban students.

As Chris and Kim tour New Jersey talking about their plans to change Trenton, Jon Corzine and his running mate continue their misleading attacks. After four years in office, Governor Corzine has yet to air even one positive ad. Why?

Could it be because Governor Corzine’s record includes deep budget cuts to our state colleges and universities? Could it be that because his record has given us the highest property taxes, business taxes, and income taxes in the country? New Jerseyans realize that as Governor, Corzine has failed to address any of the biggest problems facing our state, including higher education. He has broken his promises to voters time after time and now New Jerseyans are demanding that Corzine stand by his record. Watch the web video “Stop the Negativity, Stand By Your Record” here.

Change is coming, and Chris and Kim are ready to fight for you in Trenton.
