Congressman Rush Holt has a town hall meeting scheduled for Wednesday August 26, 7PM at the Middletown Arts Center. ObamaCare is on the agenda.
However, several Democratic members of congress across the country are cancelling their large public gatherings in favor of conference calls and small group meetings, according to a report in the Wall Street Journal.
Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick (D., Ariz.) on Thursday canceled her public schedule for the day after a "Chat with Ann" session at a Safeway grocery store in Holbrook, Ariz., turned rowdy.
A video of the meeting showed a woman shouting, "You don't appreciate our frustration!" Ms. Kirkpatrick cut the session short after 15 minutes and headed to her car, trailed by a jeer of "What a nitwit!"
Rep. Tim Bishop (D., N.Y.) stopped holding town-hall meetings after a June event. Footage of the meeting showed participants screaming questions at Mr. Bishop, then repeatedly shouting him down when he tried to respond. At times, Mr. Bishop would begin to respond to a question and a participant would yell, "Answer the question!" At one point Mr. Bishop yelled back, "I'm trying to!"
Police were summoned as several dozen protesters followed Mr. Bishop to his car. Now Mr. Bishop, who has held 100 town-hall meetings during his tenure, has just one scheduled for the August recess, and his office is wrestling with how to ensure it will be civil and orderly.
"I'm seeing the same clips everyone else is of these meetings that are turning into near-riots," said Jon Schneider, Mr. Bishop's district director. "Obviously we don't want that to happen." He added that the congressman is talking to voters in other ways.
Rep. Brian Baird (D., Wash.) also said the raucous nature of recent meetings about health care caused him to steer away from the events, if only because they aren't productive when so many people are shouting.
"I'm not a coward, but neither am I a fool," said Mr. Baird. "There is a real concern right now about this nationwide campaign of intimidation and disruption that I think is troubling," he said. "It's getting dangerous."
Several lawmakers said they aren't canceling large, public events that have already been planned.
Holt does not have a happy history with Monmouth County Town Hall style meetings. In February of 2008 Holt was shouted down the crowd at Corzine's 800% toll hike dog and pony show at Marlboro High School. Greg Bean of Greater Media Newspapers said Holt was committing political suicide by endorsing Corzine's monetization scheme.

The problem is that Rush Holt is believed to be some genius rocket scientist. He's not. He just happened to be in the right place at the right time. If Pappas does not sing'e "twinkle twinkle Kenneth Starr" Rush Hold is still mixing chemicals at some lab at Rutgers. The other issue is the left wing media nuts like Kathy (bacon head award winner)Baratta and the APP kiss his ass and bow to him because he is some self professed rocket scientist. Its a shame. The good news is that Baratta is retired from the newpaper business and relegated to her trashy web site. The better news is that Professor Holt is likely going to be beat by Halfacre who is a good candidate but will benefit from the general disguist with NOBama.
I'm surprised Holt knows where Monmouth County is! He never shows up here unless he is pandering for votes!
Right place, right time..Halfacre should do well and finally give us one net gain in our very sorry NJ Congressional delegation..
Holt is a disaster. He is a typical example of a guy who is book smart (in one discipline) and dumb as a wall and lacking in common sense overall. I agree, Halfacre has a great shot at ousting this useless load and if the Democrats keep attacking and marginalizing people just for speaking out against socialized healthcare, they might be in for an even ruder awakening.
Yes! Lets get rid of all socialist systems, starting with Medicare and Social Security! It's about time ALL true Americans learned how to stand on their own two feet!
