what does weak mean ? work experience ? Office exp ? Education ? Speaking skills ? Looks ? electability ? Please expand on that ?

Here is an idea. Give everyone the line who submits a petition and let the party members decide instead of the party bosses.

What a concept, Anon.11:33am. Dare I say ... democratic?

Seriously, what is the point of being on county committee if not to select candidates through a county vote at convention? Geesh, Bill Dowd never went away really...

Mike Halfacre.

This is where he really belongs; not in a congressional race!

And he would win.

maybe by weak they mean, untried, yet, as is the case of anybody new..tell whomever you support to get their letter in asap, and talk to your town chair, it is they who will have to speak for you at steering, I mean, advisory committee..somebody has to be put on the party line for June, otherwise, you're an also-ran, several columns over, it's the system, so participate.. get to it, those who care....

Where are the names of the "SOmeone Else" candidates I don't see it anywhere. I have seen many names suggested in the comments but some names you post Art I haven't really seen Are they your choice?

They're in the Someone Elses threads. If I missed one you like post it in this thread and stop whining.

While I don't agree with many comments, everything that you see here at MMM is by my choice.

Grace Cangemi would be the right candidate, she is proven as an elected can raise money Her problem the Chairman

Chris Hanlon

Any Republican can probably win in this election year, however, the question is who would be best out of the crop. Anna Little and Joe DiBella have far too many enemies and overzealous supporters who would cause another circus to erupt. DiMaso had already had her bites at the apple and never went anywhere. Spatola couldn't even win a screening committee selected by the county chairman while be fully supported by him. Of the list, this leaves Arnone or Wilkens. Others frequently mentioned are Hanlon and Cangemi. We need someone like Clifton who can be a level head in between Curley and Burry. Cangemi is far too close to Curley and Arnone to Malcolm Carton, so that leaves either Hanlon or Wilkens. Either would win, have good resumes, have no ties to the good old boys club and would provide level heads on the board.

to 11:43 duty of the CC members was supposed to be to advance the platform of the Republican party. Somewhere along the way it became a power thing with a small group of people trying to prevent an open primary. FYI the County committee can let all Real Republicans have the line but that would make it tough to extort favors wouldn't it. Have met many county committee people and more then 50% are clueless followers of a few corrupt power brokers. Many towns have vacancies for many CC seats because most people don't want to be associated with the ugly underbelly of NJ politics.

Art Gallagher, Wikens left the township said he was done with politics.

Why would the chairman be a problem for Grace C. She is ratioinal, smart has experience and will perform her duties in the best interest of the county and we'll be proud to have her as a Freeholder

Little is the clear choice of the names mentioned. Ruane a maybe, Grace and Hanlon are small blips on the radar screen.

From my understanding, Wilkens did not "step down" or leave politics for good. He had an infant baby at home and did not seek re-election to the Middletown committee.
It would be great if he was willing to get "back in the game".

By the way, has Hanlon ever actually won an election?

Little or Gallagher

Wilkens will lose.

James Hogan

would be a fine choice

Doesn't the firm that Hanlon is currently working for have county contracts? I don't think Freeholder pays enough or will give her benefits or will have her bosses happy to have to drop their county work. By the way, can they keep their county contracts with her newly self appointed Board of Elections job, Does that part time once a month position give you a pension and benefits?

Wilkens did not say he was done with politics. Wilkens said that he was taking a little time off to take over his father's business. What better than an Olympic medalist in an Olympic year?

Wilkens very weak

Couple of questions:
(1) What is "weak"?
(2) What type of candidate would do the best in the general election?
(3) Shouldn't we run a candidate that has at least won an election in the past?
(4) What does Art think? He has been relatively quiet on this.

Art thinks that it is great that the Freeholder nominations are now a topic of conversation and that we are fortunate as Monmouth County Republicans to have a good deep bench of fine candidates.

That being said, as her friend and her municipal chairman I will support Anna Little for what ever office she chooses to run for this year, if any.

If you are unaware of what weak means in this context may I give this brief explanation - - - #1, naive, blind ambition, controlling & considered being an overachiever.
#2, well rounded, confident, business smarts, personal, & experienced.
#3, no
#4, ?

arnone is not close to carton
The muny chair in neptune City has no clout.

ANNA 4 congress

Anonymous said...

Wilkens has to be the leading candidate for the GOP in Monmouth Cty. The guy has had alot of success in all facets of his life. great year for him too. Olympic year.
