After Shocks

Senator Joe Kyrillos told Politickernj's Max Pizarro that Governor Christie's budget address was "a revolutionary speech for a revolutionary time. I think people are more prepared for it than the political establishment."

I think he's right. I expect Christie's favorable polling numbers will be in the high 50's or better. Democrats will review the polling numbers harder than the do the budget numbers.

In the meantime the Dems are whining cautiously.

The NJ Assembly Democratic twits are whining to their 192 followers.

Senate Majority Whiner Barbara Buono suggested that Christie's budget might not really be cutting spending at all, but rather "only illusory and simply shift the burden onto someone else, like homeowners, college students or low- and middle-income earners."

Our friends at InTheLobby have a great analysis of the speech and the Democrats whining.

Is it whining to complain about a minimum of $250 in property tax increases? Is it whining to complain about the taxes being proposed on businesses? C'mon Art, if Corzine proposed all of this...you would have blasted him to no end. Also, why do people with $400,000 in income get a tax break, while the cut the budget for homeless and for the food bank. How can you possibly defend this crap.

Yes.

1)I don't believe that to be necessarily so.

2) $250 would be the lowest property tax increase I've ever seen. Talk to me when the former Abbotts are paying their fair share.

Yes.

Even so I missed those. What are they?

C'mon Art, if Corzine proposed all of this...you would have blasted him to no end.

1) He wouldn't have.

2) If he had, I would have praised him and then bashed him for something else.

They're not. They are not getting a tax increase.

while the cut the budget for homeless and for the food bank.

Those making $400K or more, and anyone else, can contribute if they want to.

Friends, family and neighbors can do what they are supposed to and help each other out.

Really easily Rick. We have to start somewhere. Chris Christie is the first Governor in my life time to demand that spending to cut and government downsize.

We have more government that we can afford and far more than is necessary. If I were King I would cut more.

No matter how it is done, there will be whining.

he did not cut the food banks, I heard it.. and, stop with the class warfare, SOMEbody has to pay the taxes to fund all the giveaways!.. 20 yrs. ago, the "charity care" in NJ cost about $125 million.. today, he said he's INcreasing "charity care" to the tune of $665. million!!.. and, still, that's not enough?..come on!.. between what we give away here, and what the NObama'll be wacking us with in more taxes, how anybody stays here is a mystery now!
