Gooch Is Running

Monmouth GOP Vice Chairwoman Diane Gooch told MoreMonmouthMusings that she will file as a candidate for the GOP nomination for congress in 6th district of New Jersey tomorrow.

"I gave it a great deal of thought and talked to a lot of people," Gooch said, "I wouldn't be running unless I thought I could win. I think I can win, not because I am so great, but because Frank Pallone is so bad."

She really said that.

Gooch will be stepping down from her duties as publisher of the Two River Times, in order to wage her campaign full time.

Also in the race is Highlands Mayor Anna Little, a former Monmouth County Freeholder, Fabrizio Bivona, a political newcomer who lives in Bergenfield but is moving to Neptune, and Pastor Shannon Wright of Plainfield.

Wright's campaign has hired Chris Pardone. Pardone used to run the New Jersey for Mitt Romney blog with Alan Moretti.

ok, the checkbook's in place, it ought to be a GOP year, now, quick, "Candidate 101" school: do not stop, do not say another thing, get some crash courses in, now!

anybody know:what does Billy B. think about all this excitement??

Wowwwwwwww...

That quote, come on Mary Pat, you should reconsider.

Shannon Wright...wasn't she a dem or something? Didn't she launch an independent bid for Governor?

who knows: hear she was testy with the TEA's.. hired a creepy manager, though, apparently: not a good start, for her..guess it's big(money) vs. Little!

Anonymous said...

Will she move into the district? She's a rich carpetbagger with no experience. Pallone will cream her.

Kudos to Gooch. That actually sounds like an honest answer. How else do you beat a 22 year Democratic incumbant in a 3-1 Democratic district... with $4 million in the bank.. probably because he stinks and voters will not want him any more.

Good luck with that said...

am told they're so well off, they just need to move to another big place down the block, no sweat..wish there weren't SO many Republicans in the district who've voted for Frank over all these years, to get them out of the "clean-ocean, green-y" persona that everybody at the shore relates to, will not be easy!..the amount of bucks her hubby's given to Frank over the years is pretty troublesome, as well...

So we have an ex democrat and two carpetbaggers running against a poular conservative who is an elected official in the District.
A great campaign slogan for Gooch Vote for me because you don't like Pallone. Very Inspiring

Seems to me to be a no brainer.

Anna will win.

I care what billy B. thinks why?

Good News. Go Gooch!

We have had enough of Pallone! What has he really done in his 30+ years as a professional politician, except to have increased his income from our tax dollars! Ask the simple questions, What has he accomplished in these 30+years,as a professional politician? HE is a Partisan voting democrat who just votes because a democrat wants a bill to pass regardless if it is wright or wrong for NJ. Please tell me,what has he done for you, for the District or NJ during these years? Not much look how bad NJ is now. Enough is enough, we need new fresh representation in Congress.

Successful businesswoman, Diane Gooch,is just the representation all Republicans,Independents and NON-partisan Democrats need for a good mix & positive change in Congress & in our District! Go Gooch.

sucessful business woman? My rich husband bought me a newspaper that caters to the folks in the social pages? she's ridiculous

Anonymous said...

12:47pm-It's a local paper with local news, a very popular newspaper in the area. You mean fundraising snapshots..not Social pages, generous people giving to hometown fundraisers is more like it. The newspaper shows fundraisers for kids, hospitals, schools, it has news on the local Kids sports and the area happenings. Just because it features the Two River area, which includes Middletown, Red Bank Rumson, Fair Haven etc ,What is wrong with that? It has editoral pages, advertising for local business and area news. Seems you just don't get it! Two RIver area locals love the paper, most do and she does a great job with it and it's better today than when it started! Bravo Gooch. 12:47 pm You seem a bit jealous of a Local newspaper with local news, hometown news! Businesswoman Gooch for Congress

Nobody said that there is anything wrong with the paper.
What we are saying is that the fact that she runs that newspaper is not going to resonate at all with the people of that district.
It reports on a world that is foreign to the majority of Americans.
You can spin her "story any way you want and it ain't gonna work.

Diane Gooch is the right candidate in the wrong district and if she can not see that then I question her political Judgment.

I will also bet my lungs that most of the politicians encouraging her understand that but do not care because they are merely interested in getting their grubby hands on some of her husbands Gazzilions.

Hometown news said...

two things: inside joke on Billy B., he's just not a fan of Mrs.Little, and it was amusing they were both mentioned in the same poll- that's all..as for the paper, where else would I, (struggling with just making the mortgage every month), get all the latest ideas on where to get my next $1,300. bag for spring?..your point about the "two different worlds" thing is valid in the district..

5:09pm-your comment:"What we are saying is that the fact that she runs that newspaper is not going to resonate at all with the people of that district.
It reports on a world that is foreign to the majority of Americans.
You can spin her "story any way you want and it ain't gonna work."
HOGWASH I SAY
----------------------------------
The content of the newspaper is HOMETOWN news period. To say it will not resonate at all with the people of that district is ridiculous. What will resonate is she is a successful business woman running a successful newspaper ..Period. It's like saying the author of Harry Potter is not worthy of praise because the story line does not resonate with some readers, because they cannot relate! Get real. -- She is a successful business woman and that matters not the content of the paper, it's simply a well liked hometown newspaper. A Successful one, --successful matters!

I stick with what I said - I know these country club folks and I work with a lot of local charities and only those country clubbers make the papers. I commend them for their generosity and the TRT for giving them what they seek, a pat on the back for reaching into their pockets. As a voter, I say "so what." The paper her husband bought her doesn't report news and she has no clue what it means to live in my world. Neither does Pallone - I see no difference between them - pretty, indulged people with nothing much else to offer. See you in December

one must ask: without Mickey's money, what did she originally want to be when she grew up, and what would she be doing today?.. like her, but hope the credentials are something we can sell to all the voters..if there ever was a year to be "not-him," I suppose this is it..there are many ways to view "success", although we know the values of today first look at money as # 1..so, let's all go and spend lots of it, so Frank will have to..

"Dear Lord, I pray that the forces of Anna Little and Diane Gooch get together soon. Diane Gooch seems swell, and Mickey is doubtless a savvy businessman....but no one in their right mind can believe that voters in areas of the 6th like PLAINFIELD are going to vote for a rich gal who lives in a mansion out of their district. This is Pallone's dream opponent, and no amount of $ is going to change that reality. Hopefully dear God, and real soon, Mickey and his lovely bride will meet with Anna, "the Little Engine that Could" and forge some type of alliance that would be impossible for Pallone to defeat. Hey, with all due respect Lord a person can dream, can't they?"

She was not born rich, didnot come from money. She came from middle class and is down to earth regardless of $$$ in the bank. Those posting here are the scary ones. You don't even know her or her past, you spew lies and ruin your own party lines. Pipe it! Pollone loves your foolish remarks...you must be his supporters, you are surely not on the Republicans side with your comments.

Anna has the character ....Gooch has the money !!!Now wouldn't that be a great combo...Anna with money like Gooch !!
Get out your wallets fellow supporter and do something constructive besides talk for a change.

Any comments on Gooch's new website?

no, but www.annalittleforcongress.com is well done..

www.dianegoochforcongress.com looks good too- read the bio

Nobody is spewing lies about Dianne Gooch.
She is a good candidate in the wrong district.
There is nothing wrong with her background but the bottom line is the people in the 6th district will not relate to the present life she leads. pallone will make hash of it. We all know the Dems love class warfare. You don't think Pallone is going to go after how her husband made his fortune and that she does not even live in the District she wants to represent.
Believe me Pallone is a lot more afraid of Anna Little then he is of Dian and her money.

The sad part is that the politicians backing Dian do not think she can win but they see $$$$$$$$$$$

Wow, Diane Gooch is an honorable woman. I commend her accomplishments. She is the real deal. Sorry to hear she lost her brother in the 911 attacks, also. She will relate well to many voters, she has had many struggles in life. Nothing was given to her, she worked for everthing she has! She was NOT born with a silver spoon, like some portray her. I am now impressed and hope she wins.

Nice try at spin by the Gooch supprters. They actually make her sound like a regular Jane.
One thing they can not spin is the fact that she doesn't live in the district!
If you think that does not matter you are a fool.
Like was said.
Good candidate in wrong district

Gooch lives closer to 70% of the residents of CD6 than Pallone does from his weekend home in Long Branch. Even Pallones kids are enrolled in DC schools. Ever heard of gerrymandering- Since Gooch is the Publisher of a Newspaper with offices and employees IN the district- I don't see how Pallone can make an issue of that. The district literally begins at her property line- Gooch spends significantly more time in CD6 than Pallone, which is clear from his complete disregard for the opinions and best interest of his constituents.

Anonymous said...

OK you make that argument.
Living in Rumson is just like living in the 6th district . I mean only the river seperates them.

WE can then all look forward to another 10 years of Pallone.

stupid

Anonymous said...

All this talk about what did Gooch accomplish without her husband? Would Pallone be in Congress without being hand-picked by Congressman Howard? What has he done to get reelected, aside from being a straight party line Democrat? I went to one of his town hall meetings, he didn't even listen to what was being said.

Oh, by the way, Rumson is not separated from Pallone's district by a river. There is no river separating Rumson from Red Bank.

True. But there is Fair Haven and Little Silver.
