Fred's Out!

UPDATE. May 12, 2006

Fred goes out with a whimper.

The APP reports that Fred confirmed we will not seek another term as Chairman because:

"Fairness in campaign financing doesn't exist,'' Niemann said. "Until there is fairness so both political parties can communicate their message equally,it won't be competitive. It will be about who raises the more money.''

"If fund raising is going to become all consuming in order to be competitive I chose not to run for re-election,''

What ever you say, Fred.

UPDATE. May 11,2006

The APP confirms that Fred is out!

Monmouth GOP $4G'S in the RED. PACs have $100G's. Rent not paid. Gallic paid $7,500.00. Fred's gas paid for.

Multiple anonymous sources are reporting that Fred Neimann will not stand for re-election as county chairman at the June 13th convention.

Ed Stominski and Mel Hall are beginning to make the rounds to Republican Clubs throughout the county seeking support for their candidacy as chairman.

Other possible candidates are John Eckdahl of Rumson and Sheriff Joe Oxley. Eckdahl reportedly won't run if Oxley does.

We need to make this choice very carefully. We need a Chairman who can heal the rifts in our party. One who can recruit qualified candidates for office at all levels, yet encourage an open and competitive process in candidate selection. We need a chairman who can run a clean and transparent fund raising operation and keep the rank and file informed. We need a chairman who is serving the party and the people of Monmouth County and not using the position for his or her own personal gain.

Thank you Fred for not running.

Thank you to the candidates who are running. Each candidate mentioned so far brings a lot to the table. I hope that when the new Chair is selected that those candidates not chosen rally behind the new Chair and continue to serve the party.

free at last, free at last...thank the lord we are free at last.

does someone have any doves to release...a church bell to ring?

oh yes, and a great hole in the earth to throw fred and dan in so they will never be heard from again. well, it's a hope at least.

pat robertson prayed for justices to be killed or something. i'm just hoping fred and dan go away. hey, maybe john lynch is looking for an overpaid mama's boy of an attorney and dan could lend his incredible "people skills" to the democratic machine in middlesex.

as for abe and will: you guys have done a lot for people by way of keeping lines of communication open. you should feel pretty good about yourselves.

a lot of people say that who i talk to every day. when this nonsesne is over, some part of it will be what you guys did. that's my opinion.

But how much to change the Larrison Hall sign to Kramer Hall and make Old Hickory happy?

About $400K of Lynch/Morris and Union money would probably do it.

Art Gallagher said...

I mean Labor Union money, not the county, though I sure they would happily contribute as well.

Joke all you like, Seward.
Just remember, ...we know who you are.
We know who ALL you bloggers are!!

We've got this air-bathing Benjamin Franklin fella' on the run, too! That's right. Yes-siree. He won't be doing any of that "free thinking" in OUR neck of the woods!

So laugh it up now, Seward, 'cuz we'll be gone, but we WON'T be forgotten, ...and don't you forget it!!

Boy you guys are good. Nothing like some cutting edge political commentary.
So Ekdahl will not run against Joe. unfortunate . he would have done a good job.
Stominski probably wants it for revenge and so he can get himself a job for that last 18 months he needs in the pension system. Since I agree with everything the press said about him and then some he is a non starter for me.
So it goes to Joe. A good choice if he did not hold office but the best choice available in any event.
Vice Chairman I like Mel Hood for that in spite of his association with Stominski.
G. Popkin also wants it. She is a great worker but we need healers now. She has been too partisan and emotional during these difficult times. Her election would unfortunatly deepen the divides in the party.
Treasurer? I have heard MF Lane is going to run. I guess she wants to protect her husbands law practice which as I understand is pretty dependent on govt. appointments.
Another person who is too divisive. She and her husband have too much to say and none of it that I have ever heard is nice. They are in my opinion a poision within the party. I hope another choice happens along.

elephants: to your unfair and uninsightful comment, i have nothing to say but, in the noble lexicon of creatures of this earth, it is in fact you who best mirror that gentle friend of man, the ass.

i don't need to explain anything to you, as you really aren't worth that much effort. the time-honored boar would also suit you, if the ass is objectionable to your sensibilities.

you're either coming in during the third act of this thing or you're just dim. either way, it really doesn't matter to me in any way.

Right you are, Sue. If it's Joe Oxley, the VC must be a woman. I would suspect that Norine Kelly would not top most people's lists.

wait, no...elephants...you DO matter that much.

you are really worth being called a cretin. stand tall, sir, this is your shining hour.

In that case, Jennifer Beck for VC

actually, i got a ruling from john bradshaw and bertha that a vice chair does not HAVE to be of opposite gender. it is preferred.

generally, a male-male or female-female chair and vice chair would be if there was some extraordinary reason. but, it's sort of academic because it's my impression that only the chairman or chairwoman could contest it.

anyway, the courts are eager to stay out of the political thing.

of course, in this case it's probably going to be the usual set up, but there's latitude (though i think people are tired of the very strange in politics...a little old school is comfortable).

"secretary seward,

is no one from the western part of the state worthy of a leadership position in our party? we must cultivate that area and develop it more, this is where our pluralities come from. mckenna knows how to win, we shouldn't just cast him, or other leaders from western monmouth aside, for if we do, it will be at our party's peril sir "

Secretary Stanton,

I agree that the Western part of the county needs to be cultivated and nurtured. I am very pleased that we have a strong Western candidate in Andrew Lucas. Whoever the next chair is should make it a priority to develope candidates and leaders in the West.

Regarding Mr. McKenna....on my map Wall Twnship is in the Southern part of the county, not the West. Southern Monmouth is also very important and we have strong leaders there in Bob McKenna, Sean Kean and Tom DeSeno.

Last we heard from Mr.McKenna, he didn't want to be Chairman and he was taking his marbles home if he wasn't selected for the seat that Anna Little won. If you go through the archives of this blog, you will see that I encouraged him to reconsider that position.

If he has reconsidered that position he should let that be known. If he is waiting to be drafted, I suspect he will have a very very very long wait.

Sue Veitengruber said...

Honest Abe, Secretary Stanton and Jim,

I stand corrected. I was reminded of one reported case where the judge ruled that the chair and vice chair of the County Committee could be of the same gender. I believe it was Union County. That being said, I do believe we have many talented male and female leaders who can share the responsibilites of the top two positions. I think Monmouth County Republicans should continue the custom of opposite gender Chair and Vice Chair. We finally have two women on the freeholder board and two assemblywomen from Monmouth County. With all due respect to the many male Republican leaders in Monmouth County, we do not need to give the impression that we are going back to be a "good old boys" club.

Before you make your accusations, consider that maybe those reimbursements/stipends/whatever may have been agreed upon when Mary Fran originally became treasurer. It is minimal as compared to Dan Gallic, who was supposedly "no longer with the Monmouth GOP" when in fact he never missed a paycheck.

Kaiser Sose:
Brilliant!!!
