Question about Hazlet MVC

Assemblyman Mike "Save the Geese" Panter says there appears to be no conflict but it should be investigated anyway.

Chairman Adam Puharic rightly calls it the "Miracle at Airport Plaza."

While it is a stretch of the imagination to believe the Treasury Department reps didn't know that they were negotiating with the Monmouth Democratic Chair, I doubt there is anything improper, other than appearances, about the transaction itself.

I do have one question though. When was the lease signed, and when did the State start paying rent on the space. Was it before or after the Monmouth Dems had their nominating convention in that space?

I dunno. Guess the state was looking to give Vic tips.

I agree there. However, just imagine how shrill the Asbury Park Depress would be if a hypothetical Schundler or Forrester administration moved the MVC to, say, an Azzolina or Bachstadt property.

the treasury dept. reportedly starting the negotiations in sept. 05 i believe. so there wouldsnt be any conventions involved.

it is my understanding that the deal was basically dine in sept. 06.

The Gibadlo convention was on August 30, 06.

the gibadlo vote wouldn't have anything to do with anything. vic didn't have anything to do with picking any candidates at that one -- he left it to the county committee. he didnt even back a candidate really.

there were a couple candidates up and it was a straight vote.

Jim,

I wasn't referring to the candidates or making an issue of the selection. Rather, I was pointing out the date of the Dems second nominating convention last year.

If the lease was signed in September, and that is when rent started to be paid, it would appear that there was no impropriety with using the space for the convention.
