The Republican sweep of the legislative seats in Monmouth County not withstanding, the electoral results this Tuesday show that that Monmouth GOP is in trouble.
Bergen County with beaches is very likely a year from now unless some fundamental changes are made.
Jennifer, Declan and Caroline's sweep was huge! Hat tip to "Barry Goldwater" for uncovering Karcher's Christmas tree farm. To the extent I was able to lend some juice , I am very pleased.
Despite the last minute Democratic money burn in the 11th, and the phony poll numbers the Dems floated in the 13th, there were no surprises, as there was hardly opposition in the 11th and 13th.
However the county organization had little to do with the legislative successes. Adam Puharic admitted as much in his blog radio interview with Conservatives with Attitude. "It's on them, I had nothing to do with it," Adam said regarding the Beck, O'Scanlon, Cassagrande victory.
The Republican victories on the top of the ticket continues a long trend. That Monmouth County is a Republican county has once again been affirmed.
Claire French and Kim Guadagno winning the constitutional races is right and sweet. Sweet because the county campaign gaffes didn't cost them.
From the Freeholder level on down, the GOP either split or lost major races.
Freeholder: Split, with a Democrat winning to top spot for the second year in a row. Trend: Democratic.
On the municipal level, the county is trending Democratic:
Wall: Independent republicans win, a repudiation of the local and county GOP organizations.
Splits: Middletown, Holmdel, Hazlet, Matawan, Keyport, Oceanport, Spring Lake, Red Bank, Sea Bright.
Marlboro: A huge Democratic victory with a major assist from local Republicans.
Aberdeen: Puharic's home town. Another Democratic sweep.

How on earth did they lose Wall? Does anybody know what happened over there?
At least Mike Mahon won in Oceanport. He is a reallt good guy. Future Freeholder material if you ask many.
Art, I must strongly disagree with your conclusion as to how municipal races are trending.
My response was so long I made it a post.

Anyone can see that the support for the republicans is well going a way. They may be able to hold the top seats but with the local seats trending in the other direction it is only a matter of time till the support for the top seats will go in the other direction too. Just look at the numbers in past elections, they may still win but not like they did in the past…
What I want to know is this: When will there be a blog for the Whigs of Monmouth County?
what about takovers in eatontown and oceanport. lucas victory in manalapan, etc. your selective thinking demonstrates your clear bias against adam who has done a great job in tough circumstances created by a bunch of bozos in 2005 and exasperated by harpies such as yourself who call yourself republicans while working with the likes of joe azzolina who publicly support dems in middletown this year.
Eatontown was a good victory. Oceanport split.
The difficult circumstances Adam faced were of his own making, with major assistance from Bill Barham and Malcolm Carton.
If you read through the September and October archives you will see I staid out of the county races. I didn't endorse any Democrats. I was busy helping Republicans get elected in Highlands.
I like Joe Azzolina and I write for is paper because they invited me too. I'll write for any paper that invites me too.
And what about Marlboro where Clownberg took down the whole Republican Party and cost us a Freeholder seat. Was that Adam's fault? Of course not. It was Clownberg's fault. He is a human political wrecking ball, smashing to bits everything that came in his way. It will take years to un-do the political dammage that meat-head did to Marlboro. What a shame.
Folks in Marlboro are saying that they asked Adam for help with the Kleinberg situation, to no avail.
