Governor Corzine told the second annual New Jersey Economic Policy Forum that he wanted to "turn entrepreneurs loose" and cut state spending by $4 billion dollars over 2 years, according to NJBiz.
It seems to me that the only entrepreneurs Corzine has the power to turn loose are drugs dealers and con-artists presently getting free room and board at our expense.
Given that Corzine's own projections estimate a $1.2 billion deficit in the current fiscal year and another $5 billion deficit in the next fiscal year, Corzine is going to have to raise taxes in order to cut spending by $4 billion. How is that going to help entrepreneurs?
As an entrepreneur I can tell you that Corzine's proposed tax credit of $3,000 for every job created in a joke. How many more bureaucrats will be added to the state payroll to administer that program? $3000 will not come close to covering the cost of heath care and payroll taxes for an new employee.
If Corzine really wants to let the New Jersey economic engine loose he should cut state spending and employment levels back to the Florio era and put constitutional amendments to overturn the Abbott and Mt. Laurel decisions on the ballot.
That would be a start.

Art,
I find your article interesting that on one hand you tear into Democrats at all cost, BUT you FAIL to include pertanant information. Here is my point… as quoted from NJBIZ
“ Saying he wants to “turn entrepreneurs loose,” Corzine vowed to review costly regulations, as well as Department of Environmental Protection and other permitting processes. He also said his administration will seek to make $4 billion in spending cuts during the next two years”
I’m certain that you never intended to miss lead your readers by leaving out “Corzine vowed to review costly regulations,” or did you? This is pure nonsence on your part, and in fact misleading your readers. Then you go on to say
“It seems to me that the only entrepreneurs Corzine has the power to turn loose are drugs dealers and con-artists presently getting free room and board at our expense.”
I’m sorry Art, but personally if YOU consider convicted criminals as “getting free room and board at our expense.” A bad thing, then maybe you would prefer they be hanging around your neighborhood.
Drug dealers belong in jail, and no where else. I for one believe more drug dealers should have the “free room and board at our expense.”
Art, I’m very disappointed in this type of reporting. I know you can, and hopeful that you’ll be more forth coming in the future. After all, isn’t it better to be “fair and balanced” then to the contrary?
Welcome Steve. Thank you for your courageous service to our country and the cause of Freedom in the world.
I understand your points, even though you had to twist my points, or you misunderstood them, in order to make yours.
No where did I say that drug dealers and con artists shouldn't be jailed. In fact, I suspect a great deal more of the Trenton con-artists should be in jail. As far as drug dealers, there are too many of them in my neighborhood. I'd rather they were in yours.
If I intended to mislead my readers, I would not have linked the article. This blog includes news, it is not news. It is what I want to say. If you don't like it, there are many others.
As far as Corzine's vow to "review costly regulations." That's just a bunch of hot air from a man who does not understand entrepreneurship or the regulations he is referrring to. All he understands is sucking up to unions and his Wall Street buddies and spending spending spending. He is a disaster and I will continue to "tear into" him. I tore into him, not Democrats at all costs.
Steve, I could care less if you are disappointed with this kind of "reporting." I'm exercising the rights you fought to protect for me. Thank you. I let you comment here, so there's your balance and thank you for sharing.
I'm not a reporter, Steve. I'm a blogger. I'll refund your subscription if it means that much to you.
