12th District Republican congressional candidate Fair Haven Mayor Mike Halfacre today announced a list of state and local officials and municipal chairmen, who support his campaign for the Republican nomination in NJ-12.
“For the last 8 months I have spoken to many people across the 12th District of New Jersey,” said Halfacre. “I have shared with them my record of cutting property taxes two years in a row as Mayor of Fair Haven, and my small government, pro-business governing philosophy. Whether it was the people I met at town hall meetings, elected officials, municipal chairmen, county committee members or grassroots activists, the majority of people agreed that Rush Holt is out of touch with the concerns of people in this district and needs to be defeated this November.

From Union County, I support Halfacre. Even though I can't vote in this election, I do what I can to support good candidates around the state. From all I've read, Mike Halfacre knows his business. I can only send a small donation, but I do. Why? BECAUSE WE DON'T NEED ANY MORE DIRTBAG SKEEVES IN GOVENMENT!!!

This list is bull. Many of these are people who committed to mike when he was only guy in the race.
Did they all talk to both Candidates in depth? Why would anyone select one person so early? Typical NJ politics buddy buddy system. This is why NJ has the highest taxes and one of the most corrupt systems. I mean really it is only January 14!
Where's Senator Baroni? Guess he jumped ship as soon as there was an alternative.
baroni isn't the only one jumping ship.
Maybe the reason Halfacre keeps racking up grassroots support is that he's out working hard while his opponents are posting on message boards.

well, in all fairness and in Mike's defense, he jumped in before it started looking like an anti-Obamanation year, so, of course you'll see more bright, ambitious and now BRAVER folks, throwing their proverbial hats into the ring, in more races, before it all shakes out!-remember when a chair had to BEG or just fill the slot on the line to take the falls?..
come on, people, we have to be grownups and face it, there's just more than one candidate now, and so, let them do what they think they need to do, and one'll get the chance to reduce the horrid Dem catastrophe, which is "job-one" for us, in 2010!!
folks,it took Chris Smith two tries to get to be a Congressman, it took John Curley two tries to get to be a Freeholder.. let's all man-and- woman up now and realize some things are hard, some things just aren't "ours" for an easy taking, just 'cause we "want" it!..don't we tell our kids, our teams, etc.,to keep trying and work harder, to reach a goal??..
Just what is meant by "grassroots support"? How does one determine if they 'have' it? What is the criteria by which it is measured?
Why is having money, or having parents who had money, being demonized? Why should that 'disqualify' anyone?
Ronald Reagan had money. Not to mention the Bush family. Barry Goldwater too.
True Republicans better think hard about the tactics of a candidate who just can't take the disappointment of not being the only one in a race....and one who tries to turn this campaign into class warfare, at the expense of party unity. Fair is fair; argue the issues and let the person best suited to beat Holt win.
There were virtually no campaign finance laws when goldwater, nixon and reagan first ran. they didn't need to be personally wealthy at the time to compete as they could take half million dollar checks--and did. That is exactly the problem with these campaign finance laws and why we see a congress full of millionaires.

We have recently interviewed Mike Halfacre and were, frankly, very impressed. However, in order to maintain the integrity of the process and our own credibility,
it is incumbent upon us to vet all viable and credible candidates before making an endorsement.
To that end, we invited Scott Sipprelle you to join us at our next meeting, February 3 and he accepted.
We are all like-minded souls whose only objective is to bring our country back from the dangerous path on which it has embarked. We will announce our endorsement in a press release.

I appreciate your desire to be fair to the candidates.
Is the Tea Party Council meeting on Feb. 3 open to the public? If so, where is it held? If not, could you post the questions you posed to evaluate the candidate's worthiness to your cause and his answers? That would be fair to the rest of the public.
I am not familiar with the "Tea Party Council", so I attemted to find it using the search feature of the site "http://teapartypatriiots.org". It doesn't appear to be listed.
