“It has been a privilege to serve the Republicans of Middlesex County as the MCRO Treasurer for the past six years and now I am officially announcing that I will seek the privilege of serving as the Republican County Chairman,” Struben said.
Struben said that he wants to unite the county Republican organization and keep the MCRO's annual endorsement convention process open. He added that, “Election results in Middlesex County have been slowly trending Republican over the past six years and last year we delivered the county for Governor Chris Christie. I want to build on this success by winning not only at the county level, but helping to make gains at the federal, state and local levels as well. We need fresh, new leadership for the MCRO to make that possible.
"This year, we have a rare opportunity to defeat two of the most liberal Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives and keep the 14th District State Senate seat in Republican hands. In all of these races, Middlesex County will be the battleground to decide the outcome. I want to be the chairman who will unify all the various groups in our party into a working coalition and lead us to victory in November,” Struben said.
Struben has already secured the support of 100+ County Committee members for the June reorganization meeting, and today announced the public support of several Middlesex County Republican leaders:
Lawrence Citro - Milltown Republican Councilman
Pat Iurilli - Highland Park Republican Municipal Chairman
David Kaiserman - Sayreville Republican Councilman
Gregory Newton - Jamesburg Republican Municipal Chairman
Tom Nothstein - Monroe Republican Municipal Chairman
Tom O'Neill - North Brunswick Republican Municipal Chairman
Reyes Ortega - Perth Amboy Republican Municipal Chairman
Joe Sinagra - 2006 Republican candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives
"I'm supporting Chris Struben because he has the political instincts to bring disparate factions together and will not be satisfied with the status quo. I believe that he will do what is right for the Middlesex County Republicans and accept the ideas and input of the members of the organization first and foremost."
-Tom Nothstein, Monroe Republican Municipal Chairman
Christopher Struben is the MCRO Treasurer, an MCRO Executive Board member, and a Republican Ward Chairman in Woodbridge Township. Struben first got involved in politics by volunteering in the New Jersey gubernatorial election of 1993. In addition, Struben was the Republican nominee for Mayor of Woodbridge in 1999 and 2006.
