Congratulations to Freeholder Little and the Monmouth County GOP Committee

It was wonderful to see a 57% turnout for the convention to select our new Freeholder. Thank you to all who came out to Manalapan. For many it was a long drive. 450 + volunteers, elected (in most cases) by their respective communities took time away from their weekend routines to select a new office holder. Judging by how quickly the room cleared out when Mrs. Little’s victory was apparent, it is clear that these are busy people who had other things to do.

The convention was an example of what is great about our Republic, our county and our party.

Now is the time for us to unite behind Freeholder Little. Let there be no convention or primary challenge. We have a good candidate who will prove to be an excellent Freeholder. The leadership of the various factions should come together and put their differences aside. Let’s hope that the selection of our other two candidates, one Freeholder and the Surrogate will be free of the acrimony that existed behind the scenes and on the blogs in this most recent race. If Ted and Marie both re-up the selections will be easy. Let’s hope they make their intentions known soon. We are probably in for another sprint of a campaign. Let’s hope that this race will bring people together, in healthy and respectful competition.

in response to peter as a potential chairman candidate. i think that the middletown chairman holds a good vantage to be able to run for the chairmanship. but, you need the votes from the county committee, and i haven't heard a lot of people on the county committee that would go for that.

he has a strong base in middletown. he has some votes from a few partisan towns...and it probably isn't enough.

he's known for being a hardliner and that's the last thing that the county committee is looking for anymore. whoever the next chairman is will have a set of bylaws under his or her arm at the convention.

Agreed

actually michael,

i was big on bylaws when i was a republican and editorially supproted the current chairman when he was a candidate who said he was going to install them. i believe you were frequently in the room.

as a matter of fact, mc gop for change, which i believe you were a member of, was all about bylaws.

it is not a secret, or if it is it is a terribly bad one, that i became a democrat because this chairman had a challenge when it came to telling what is commonly regarded as "the truth" in campaigning.

i did not leave the republican party...the republican party left me. that's ok, because if the standard for being republican today is simply buying whatever comes out of freehold then i made the right choice. in addition, if you believe that a near constant rewrite of the past, coupled with an endless stream of propoganda right now, is the way to run political organizations then i must disagree.

mr. kaiser sose:

i don't know you, but i agree. i can tell you like ted. everyone likes ted, he's an icon. i think the powers that be are going to put him out to pasture. the precedent is there, as disrespectful and wrong as it is.

all ted did for god oly knows how long is bust his butt for this county. and does he get? wise guys who all of a sudden "know a lot more" about Monmouth. Here's a fact, no one knows more about this county than Ted.

I hope it's enough. He doesn't deserve the shaft.

I don't think it's Billy. I think he has a lot more reverence than that for the board. It would shock me if he had anything to do with this. As far as I know, Bill has been a good guy who has lent continuity. I could be wrong, but I don't think I am.

I know Fred is wrong and I know Ted is right. I mean, Harry never got behind anyone, he always allowed the dust to settle and then he came out and backed the winner. I just think Billy is a lot like that, and I know I could be wrong but I don't think I am at this point.

I just found an old flyer on the 9 Republican principles that I received from the RNC a few years ago.

I'd like you to take a look at them. I put them on my blog. You might find some blaring discrepancies between those precepts and one or two people in the county right now. republicans ought to be able to go down the checklist there pretty quick. for you and abe, it would just take a second to hit all the points and move on. but there's alot of people that we both know that would probably get stuck on at least three or more areas. it's like one of those self help things in magazines, but only for republicans.

i think this is a good standard to apply to anyone characterizing themselves as "republican." see if you agree.

Michael,

I never gloated about Lincoln Day numbers being down. I did challenge "Ronald Reagan" to back up his numbers, which were BS.

I don't consider posting a link to a newspaper article as character assasination, and as you said people ( in this case DiBella) is bringing himself down.

These boards are for discussion...free and open discussion without fear of retribution in this blog. As DiBella is still a potential candidate for freeholder, his traffic ticket, his relationship with his police department, his past driving record and any other information about him is appropriate for discussion.

Your participation here is always welcome, even if you don't like my anonymity, my positions or who I support.
