Guess we dodged that bullet on the 25th, huh Mr. ecretary?

Honest Abe said...

Ooops! That's Mr. Secretary.

Don't be talking about dodging bullets....Reagan's got you beat in that regard! :-)

Who knows...if Joe had won on the 25th maybe he'd have a county driver now and wouldn't have had this problem.

Have you heard anything about a convention date yet? Ted and Marie's intentions? I hear there is a push to put DiBella on the ticket, as Little's running mate.

A county driver? Like Palughi?LOL

It's been eerily quiet. DiBella is damaged goods, so politically he would be a very bad move at this time. I'm still concerned about a Bill Dowd maneuvre.

That would be interesting.

Bill is brilliant, but there's no such thing as an effective "stealth campaign."

If no one knows that someone is going for an office, then they aren't going to vote for anyone.

I wouldn't put it past him. And, I know some people believe in it. But it doesn't work. If Bill wanted the job and campaigned for it he might get it back. If he doesn't he won't. And, I think something in between is just going to be a loser.

He's too smart for that.

What I meant by "Bill Dowd maneuvre" was Fred replacing Anna Little with his own choice (DiBella?) without benefit of convention, like Dowd did to Stominski.
But I have heard talk of a Dowd comeback attempt.

As I said on your blog Abe, I heard Fred has been talking about that.

Is DiBella confident or dumb enough to go for that? If he loses that primary he's toast. Its a big risk for someone with so much ambition. Who else could Fred's candidate be? I don't think McKenna would do it and Kleinburg has announced for Ted's seat

Honest Abe said...

I dunno. He could throw any name in there if he just wants to gum up the works.
Let's hope he doesn't do anything stupid and backs Anna and whoever the committee selects for Ted's seat and surrogate.

I think all this talk about DiBella being pulled over is disloyal.

Remember, no matter what any Republican does at any time no Republican should talk ill of them. No matter how stupid that sounds, or how much that smacks of a cognitive disorder, no matter what happens...whatever you do don't talk about it. This especially involves any item of police intervention or anything involving any action that proves a lie, especially if you have any credible information. Remember what people who quote Reagan self-servingly say, "Whatever people don't know won't hurt them." Of course, Regan never said that... he wanted to making lying on the part of public officials a crime. It was an unpopular measure that was defeated, of course.

It is sometimes argued that if there is a lie discovered, then act like it isn't and if you try hard enough...well, it won't be. Just say the truth didn't happen and there you go.

Right?

Naw, didn't think anyone was stupid enough to buy that. But you have to admit, that was funny.

Real Republicans are neither stupid, blind or cognitively challenged. They are smart people who care about their communities... just like good Democrats by the way.

: )

At least like the two Democrats who voted for Anna Little at their convention!

hey, there comes a time when enough is enough. if the gop can clean up it's act with people like anna, then fine. she's good and deserves a shot. she's real.

but i think it's a little naive anymore to believe that because someone is registered republican it absolves them of any character defects.

candidates have to have merit of their own. it's not yet a forgone conclusion that fred (in his vast powers at this point) to nullify any decision of any body and remove her from the ticket and put in two of his stooges. it's the elephant in the middle of the room.

does anna deserve it? yes. she won it fair and square. does that mean that the county is going to let it be? i'm unconvinced of their sincerity.

and if they do, who is to say they don't stick her with dibella in another joe a. style election where votes fall into a black hole?

pessimistic? perhaps...but based on precedent.

Is anyone actually making that argument? There are very few saints amongst us, and they would be the first to confess their defects.

Jim:

"it's not yet a forgone conclusion that fred (in his vast powers at this point) to nullify any decision of any body and remove her from the ticket and put in two of his stooges. it's the elephant in the middle of the room.

You're skepticism is understandable. I don't think Anna will be challenged at this point, but it could happen.

Jim:

"and if they do, who is to say they don't stick her with dibella in another joe a. style election where votes fall into a black hole?"

I don't see that happening either.

DiBella would be foolish to run this time. He lost to Anna Little, does he really think he could beat Ted?

Ted would win an "Joe A" type election and there will be no hiding the votes

If Ted runs and beats back a challenge, Genell and Popkin will have established themselves as the real political powers in the Monmouth GOP. Fred would be foolish to let this happen and should embrace Ted if he declares.

Art Gallagher said...

Ted is out! I think he did the right thing for himself and his wife. He will be deeply missed and looked to as a role model for years to come

You know Jim and Geri are interesting. They are really the grassroots. Good people that can overcome all the nonsense and get good candidates into position.

My opinion is that they're the best thing going in the party right now. They have integrity and are refreshing given the state of affairs.

A lot of people can take a lesson from them.

But I think there will be another end run at Anna. I don't think it will be successful but I think Fred will make another swipe at her. If Jim and Geri keep on winning and Fred keeps on losing there are going to be conlcusions that have to be drawn.
