Those who aren't chosen by the 24-member Republican screening committee as party-line candidates should have serious concerns about how the information will be used if they pursue a primary fight or an independent challenge to the Politburo-approved candidates.
And those who are chosen should have serious concerns, if elected, should they attempt to deviate from the "party line" while in office.
The fee alone could deter some candidates from running.
That may be part of the idea.
Puharic estimated the cost at $1,000, but other party members were told it would be $2,000 or $2,500. Puharic defended the plan, saying "background checks are something every big company does."
Possibly. But I guarantee that they do not spend $1,000, $2,000 or $2,500 a pop for the checks. That would be cost prohibitive and a bad business decision. No, they pay a small subscription fee for a service. The dollar amount leads me to question just who will be doing these background checks, and why such a high fee. Is Adam looking to throw business at an inflated price to a politically connected firm?
All too recently we read and watched as Monmouth County elected officials were prosecuted or implicated in public corruption. Yet some republicans are still fighting against a new Party policy to produce ethical candidates and works to restore the public's faith in our party once again. Instead some of you spend time questioning our Chairman's ethics. And even worse, while his committee screens ethics privately, you attack his character publicly.

Hey, I hear there's a bridge in Highlands/Sea Bright for sale.
"How about Adam Goes thru a background check and makes that public along with his last 5 years tax returns."
I think it has been made clear that the chairman's background checks will not be made public. You are suggesting he makes his tax returns and background check on himself public. If you honestly believe that is a good idea, suggest it to be implemented before the next chairman's election. Otherwise, you are merely lashing out with policies so you can try to publicy humiliate or embarrass other party members. (You suggest this of all days on President Reagan's birthday; let us not forget about publicy speaking ill of another Republican)
Also, the position of party chairman is not an elected government position. The chairman does not work on taxpayer dollars as do elected officials. If we were to require background checks for our chairman, then would we not have to requre them for all party county committee members as well?
Taxpayers care about thier money being wasted by elected officials. Taxpayers want ethical candidates, not cronies. Taxpayers want their property taxes lowered.

I don’t agree with everything I read, but I keep taking a look- it is definitely entertaining. However, MMM would be better and could have far greater credibility if Art Gallagher didn’t display his biases quite so obviously and ran an unbiased forum for discussion. How's that working out?

I am confused --- we voted for adam without a screening committee or a background check, but now he wants everyone else to do what he didn't have to.
