With many good reasons. Beck is smart, articulate, attractive, and a dedicated effective servant of her constituents. All things that Pallone is not.
What Pallone is whining about is that Beck talked with U.S. Attorney Chris Christie this summer and Christie wouldn't talk to him.
Anyone who has ever talked to Christie, Beck and Pallone can understand why Frank is the odd man out. He is an inauthentic weenie.
With Christie you can talk about Springsteen or the Mets. Beck will look you right in the eye and tell you what she really thinks about whatever issue you are talking about. Pallone won't look you in the eye. He'll give you a goofy smile and words that don't mean anything. If you press him on something he'll call you disagreeable or shrug his shoulders.
If Pallone really wants to talk to Christie he should go under oath.

"effective servant" ? Really? What has she done for her constituents except jump from one election to the next without doing anything...first in the Assembly, and now in the Senate. She can propose all the bills she wants, but I don't recall her getting anything to pass on her own. She has tagged along on others AFTER she asked to be included. She is mostly ineffective because she can't push any legislation through. We lost more than a representative in the last election...we lost representation.
Jennifer Beck won her seat with the deceptive use of a law on the books concerning farm land assessment. Your own party's matron on the Navesink also benefits and she used to throw parties for Jen to raise funds....... Jen Beck may be articulate but her integrity....win at any cost is to be questioned....who is jealous of that?
You guys have to be kiding me! Frank Pallone is a political hack who for all his years of service has brought back ZERO to his district. Jennifer Beck has done more for this area in her brief term in Trenton than Pallone in his 20+ years in DC. When is Pallone going to get on a "real" committee in the House? FOr all his years of service in the majority party, he should be the chair of the Ways & Means committee. Unbelievable!!!!
Art,
Notice how your critics aren't telling you how effective Pallone has been. He's only been a Representative for 20 years. I would think there might be a long list of accomplishments to refute your statement.
Instead they go after Jennifer Beck's record, not as part of the argument, but as their entire argument because they can't defend Pallone.
If Beck accomplishes nothing else, she got Ellen Karcher out of office.

Itemize what she has done ! Nothing ! Do you know how you can tell if a politician is lying???? You can see their lips move.......all of them regardless of party..Spare us the rhetoric...Politics is usually the vocation of freeloaders.
Lugar, you are right. It seems there is some disagreement over Jennifer, but everyone agrees that Pallone is a zero.
Here's just a few of Frank's accomplishments:
Spearheaded an effort to ensure adequate funding for Community Health Centers and successfully secured $2 billion in Fiscal Year 2008. With this money, 1,200 new and expanded health centers were built, providing an additional 6 million people with access to health care. This effort is ongoing with the goal of securing an additional $248 million in Fiscal Year 2009, allowing for the further expansion of these vital health care centers.
Introduced the Beach Protection Act that requires tough new beach water quality testing and public notification standards so beachgoers are better informed about the safety of their beaches. This legislation passed the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee in October 2007.
Introduced legislation that will bring much-needed flexibility to the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Reauthorization Act of 2007. Under this Act, fishery rebuilding plans must meet a rigid 10-year deadline to rebuild fishing stocks to unprecedented levels.
and here's one that directly effects our illustrious US Attorney...who just happens to be running for Governor..shhhh...no one is supposed to know....
Introduced legislation that would require the U.S. Department of Justice to meet a set of guidelines before entering into a deferred prosecution agreements and would require critical independent oversight that is currently nonexistent.
OK...now name something that Beck has passed....bet you can't.
Humm Rick....Introductions are hardly accomplishments.
That's a republican response,Art,Not an intelligent one and this voter is undeclared and votes for people....not parties. Give us the facts...not a lot of bullshit and then you return to credibility as when you supported Anna Little,a commendable public servant.
These bills are just from 2007 and 2008 and still have to go through the Senate committee. Then, if and when we get a President that will be cooperative to things other than greasing the pockets of his friends and associates while lying through his teeth, he might be able to get them signed into law.
Still, you haven't showed one single thing that Beck has done in the assembly or the senate other than getting herself elected.
Cudos Art!!!! 20 years and we have 4 introductions and get this...No money earmarked for his district!
Those are only a couple that I picked out...there's quite a few dozen more where those came from. I didn't think Art would let me post them all up...heh-heh.
Still, please show me something, anything that Beck has done other than get herself elected.
Rick,
Do you really want to get into comparing Jennifer's three years in the state legislature, as a miniority member, to Phoney Palloney's 20 years in Congress, most of which he served in the majority?
I don't live in the 12th, but I'll get to answering your question if someone else doesn't first.
Here are a few things that Pallone has not done for his district:
1)Funding the the renovation of Fort Hancock. He supported the private/public partnership to renovate the park before he opposed it. In the meantime the fort continues to deteriorate.
2)Prevent to BRAC closure of Fort Monmouth.
3)Prevent dumping and the Mud Hole
4)See to it that the leavees on the Bayshore were maintained in a manor that would have FEMA say "good job" rather than "these won't work, we're redrawing the map.
5)Any thing for Asbury Park at all.
6) Anything at all for Highlands and Sea Bright residents who opposed the new bridge design.
Pallone might as well be the Congressman from New Dehli or Armenia. Read Jim Hogan's blog today.
anything that Beck has done other than get herself elected.
Getting rid of Ellen Karcher and winning the seat back was a huge accomplishment in and of itself.
What a political hack answer...I'm disappointed in that. YOU are the one touting how effective she is...show me where.
She did nothing in the Assembly and is doing nothing in the Senate. I live in the 12th and while Karcher was not perfect, she did at least represent her constituents and not herself, as Beck does.
Rick,
I hate to be a ball buster.... *BUTT* I am.
"Spearheaded an effort to ensure adequate funding for Community Health Centers" - Let us review. You head on over to http://www.nachc.org/ -> http://findahealthcenter.hrsa.gov/Search.aspx and do a search for centers in NJ. You'll find that a search of Community Health Centers does not place a single health center in NJ D6, the district Mr. Pallone is SUPPOSED to be representing. You can find plenty of these down in Camden. I'm sure the good people of Keansburg would be happy to know that their tax money is providing primary care to people in Camdem (in a very different district) thanks to their congressman, while they are faced with a bigger FEMA bill. Or is the rep from Camden working on that for the people of Keansburg? I won't get into the fact that these centers boast "70% of patients are below the poverty line" as I'm sure a few working class Americans who recently spent $150 on a primary care visit to their doctor in D6 would have loved the cheap/affordable care from such a center. So to your first point - bring the money back to NJ-D6 Frank, or better yet, stop DC from taking our money to begin with.
Moving on.... Pallone "introduces" the Beach Protection Act - to alert us and tell us that the beaches are polluted. I can save the tax payers some money - here it is - The beaches and rivers are polluted.
The big DANGER sign down at Branchport Creek says so, it has said so for well over *2 YEARS* now and Mr. Pallone made a 2 minute for-show speech at a town hall meeting just a week or two ago and that has been it. Monmouth Park FAILS Pallone's "tough water quality tests"... now what? Fix the problem. Shut down MP until it's fixed, stop the state/federal funding of the park until pollution stops, bring in the ACOE to build some waste management system for MP - big deal - he wants to spend more of my money to tell me my beaches are closed - how about enforcing the current regulations before we define new regulations.
Continueing... Frank's "introduction" of legislation to the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Reauthorization Act of 2007 is another bad joke. Why do we need to reach "unprecedented levels"? How about the fact that food cost is at an all time high, oil is high (under $100 barrel today, sweet! but still HIGH...I'm stock piling!) and the good people of NJ are in need of real economic relief. So again, I ask, why "unprecedented levels"? How about "if you can catch some fish and provide cheap fish as food to people who are paying $4/gallon for milk and struggling to pay their mortgages, that'd be swell, we'll worry about those fish next year". Lets be honest, there are plenty of fish in the sea.
Another non-answer to what has Beck done in the Assembly and the Senate that makes Art say she is an effective representative. She has done nothing. Nada. Zip. Zero. Name me something..anything..other than get herself elected.
While Pallone has not done all that you expect him to do, he has done tons of work over the last 20 years..too numerous to mention on Art's blog. So please Jimmy, spare me the small itty bitty things you have issues with. We all know you don't like him, never have, never will. He could clean up the entire world and you would say he dumped all the stuff in the universe and now that's not any good.
Rick,
I'll concede that Jennifer Beck's record for three years in Trenton is lacking. Given the way Trenton works, being in the minority is very limiting. But beating Karcher helped because it was on less vote for approving Corzine's reckless agenda.
Pallone, on the other hand, has been in Washington for twenty years and his record is sorely lacking.
He opposes drilling for more oil, nuclear energy and is favor of wind as long as the wind doesn't come from his district. But he really puts forward nothing.
He opposes tougher immigration laws, but offers no solution.
He watched Fort Monmouth get shut down by BRAC and waited for the Asbury Park Press to tell him it was a problem before he did anything.
He is part of the delegation that gets us the worst return on our federal tax dollar in the country.
I consider those bigger issues than the issues you claim he's done something about.
Lugar96
Rick,
Who's fault is it that Senator Beck's many bills that are strong on ethics reform and providing tax relief are not going up for votes in the State Senate?
I'm curious as to how you think a member of the minority, especially one from a competitive district, can get bills posted in the Senate? Not to mention, I don't think the Senate President is a big fan of hers after she took one of his members that he spent $4 million to try and get re-elected.
And I'm not sure you know this Rick, but the Senate President decides which bills to post and can certainly help push bills out of committees that are all chaired and controlled by the majority party.
Come on Rick, enlighten me.
That wasn't my point Eric...maybe if you read the post, you would see what I was talking about. Art said she's effective...she's not. I understand the workings, trust me. I'm not that stupid. Which brings me to my other point that the district she represents, mine, was the incredible loser in the last election since we effectively have no representation in Trenton since they are in the minority party and can't do anything but granstand and say how much they are against everything that happens. Real "effective"
Enlightened yet?
Pallone flaps his lips but refrains from producing anything more tangible that the equivalent of "feasibility studies." near the new FEMA flood zones Pallone had commissioned BS studies conducted by the inept army corps of engineers. it cost millions of dollars and did not amount to a hill of beans. wasted money by a wasted pol
ART, Beck is certainly better then Pallone but she is no Anna Little or Sarah Palin. She is just another politician albeit a savvy and ambitous one. As a result one day she will disapoint you greatly.
Let Jen worry about issues in her district. For example, the situation with the Freehold Regional High School District. It has become the epicenter of academic and economic fraud among its top administrators. This situation stems from their receiving phony bogus degrees, and thus getting tuition reimbursement and pay raises.
Sen. Codey spoke out publicly; Assembly members Angelini and Rible spoke; Sen Keane spoke.
All non-district people mind you.
Where was Jen???? Where is Jen???
I'm still waiting.............
