by "Blogger Ronald Reagan"
Last night Sarah Palin gave the speech of her lifetime, so says the pundits and the talking heads. Well, try this one on for size, Sarah Palin did not rise to the occosation, she delivered the speech that her talent level and ability allowed her to give. Having seen thousands and thousands of politicians give speeches there are few that could equal the same poise, dignity and timing that Palin delivered last night. The fact that she is a women in politics only adds to the alure.
The single most disappointing trait in a person seeking higher office is the inability to give a good speech. Whether or not you're the smartest, most educated, most street smart person in the world, if you can't communicate you're doomed. Most politicians learn but have no talent, others try and fail miserably destine to be the product of what fate, and a little luck, throw their way in terms of a political career.
Of course, there is the one. You know... the one... the "Great Communicator" Ronald Reagan. His speeches were spell binding, clear and delivered with ease and emotion. Of course, he was a classically trained actor with the pedigree to deliver the tough guy speech in a way only a 6'4" cowboy can, leaving you at ease but you known he could kick your ass if he put his mind to it.
Palin delivered a speech last night that would make a Hollywood producer stand up and cheer, "You go girl!".
Palin has the talent, character and the "it" factor that I've only seen once in my lifetime (although to be honest Obama almost has it also). Politicians and pundits will no longer wonder if she might be the Ronald Reagan for the Republican Party, she already is.
Just one question for Palinator: Where were you during the Republican primary? A Palin/? team would have been just the ticket!
