Taking a poll on the tolls

The first round of the Corzine/Kolluri/DuPont(thank you Grace) toll increases went into effect today. Turnpike tolls are up 40% and Parkway tolls are up 43%.

In 2012, when Obama is up for re-election and NJ municipalities will have to pay catch up pension payments, the tolls will rise another 50%.

Are you changing your travel routes to avoid tolls? Vote in the poll on the right.

I'm not because I rarely use tolls these days, but I know others whose daily commute is being altered because of the toll fees. If I had a daily commute that required tolls, I'd look for an alternate route.

You mean you won't be taking 35 to 287 to 80, or 35 to 1-9 to 4 when you go home for the holidays? :-)

These thugs are much more devious than the private turnpike people I had to deal with in Middletown back in the 1890's. Maybe I need to come back and haunt them.

When gas was $4 a gallon everyone complained, but they paid. Now for a measly extra 3 bucks a week, everyone is up in arms about the parkway tolls. I'd rather pay that than the gas prices!! Better to know it's there than suffer the gouging dealt with over the summer.

Are you saying that $4 gas didn't change how people drove?
