well, it's too bad more did not feel compelled to participate, it is an honor, after all, to have such an important vote!..that being said, am delighted for Mr. Arnone: you will NOT be disappointed in this man.. Mr. Rich, thanks for trying, and Mr. Wilkens, you are a nice, up and coming young candidate,, hope you run next year!..cudos to all three for being both classy and people to be proud of!..
I agree "On to victory," all three are classy individuals. However, I am disappointed that Wilkens is not the candidate. I know we won't be seeing the last of him! He has incredible potential, and will surely do great things for this party if he sticks with it! Freeholder may only be the beginning for him.
Hopefully, Mike will now bow out gracefully and endorse Sipprelle so that we can come togther, husband our resources for the brutal and expensive general election campaign to come (which will be a fight to the death), and train all our guns on that jackass Rush Holt.
Thanks for your thought, Mike. Sorry, but you really shouldn't try to pass yourself off as the "base." Don't be such a sore loser. Go back to your office and worry about cutting the grass.
In my life I have learned more from failure than from success.Mike Halfacre is a young guy who still has potential.Ask yourself why a well credentialed man who started in this race over a year ago finished last.Mike you have a future in Republican politics.Tend to your wounds and think about another day.
Arnone's 4 vote margin is really just a 2 person swing. Man, that was close. I bet Wilkens would have won by a good margin if we had a county wide convention!
The reason the chair people did not show up was because the room was already stacked with "at large" and elected officials that out weighed the chairs. Electeds have a conflict and the wrong perspective. I still think an open convention is the best way.
Money won in the congressional races. I don't think we put our best candidates forward. I guess now it is up to the voters... I can tell you this as chairperson: If you have a great candidate, the money and support will come and you will win. If you have a poor (and i don't mean financially) candidate, you can spend all the money in the world and still loose.
In 6 we have a very rich, out of district, very nice person that does not get this issues and can't speak, Pallone is going to chew her up and spit her out. If little runs in the primary she may win.
In 12 we have another rich person that has some lefty leanings. At least he can give a speech. Will the grass roots come out for him?? The T-party is behind halfacre as are many of the conservative groups. If halfacre drops out the T's may have someone run in general off the line, that would guarentee the win for he D's. Only time will tell.
I never should have doubted Arts powers of prognostication. Really the other counties do not suprise me but his own county turning on him. This shows that all our "leaders " care about is money. In all honesty I am not a fan of Mr. Halfacre's but this is disgraceful. I would not be sad if we replaced 90% of our elected officials and all our non elected leaders where replaced. The greed is really disgusting.
I am glad Arnone won. Nothing against Wilkins. I am sure he has a future in the perty but I would like to see some more seasoning. I have met Arnone and I am very impressed with him.
No suprise with Little. Even though she is by far the better candidate her ability to poke the powerful in the eye was a problem for our "leaders" even w/out the money issue. I wish her best of luck in the primary. She will put up a spirited fight and may win.
Anon.12:22am ----some possible explanations could be that some of his endorsements were not eligible to vote as they were not from his congressional district, or (horrors!) they really did not support him when able to vote 'secret ballot' (the way it always should be)last night.

It is very interesting that you fail to mention any negatives about Halfacre as you did for the other candidates. Is he the most likable person in the world?
Underestimating Gooch is a mistake. Things seem to be working in her favor. She won the more open convention in Middlsex by a larger margin than Monmouth which is perceived a being an insiders game. She and Little are also running a much classier contest than in the 12th.
if the tea parties back Halfacre in a primary, he will win. No question about it. Sipprelle has money. Absolutely nothing else. He's simply a Holt clone, so why would the voters vote for him over the incumbent and give up ten years of seniority? Not a chance. The party leaders have proven once again they are completely clueless. Maybe it's time to do something about the party leaders.
If, Halfacre drops out, as he should, he may have a future. If he does not, his political ambitions will be compromised. By not dropping out, this will prove his self- interest takes precedence over all else and his days will be numbered in politics. Bow out gracefully, learn from this experience, look in the mirror start caring about the people, not yourself. The quicker you "Get Real" the quicker you may recover . Note: I said may !

Wow. Lots of scary stuff here, Andy. Lefty? That's really desperate; you know that is not true. And to answer your question, YES. The grassroots already came out for Sipprelle at the Middlesex Convention, obviously. Some tea party groups endorsed Halfacre, but other patriot groups stayed away. What did that endorsement get him? They would have been better waiting until now to endorse. And, as for being conservative, Halfacre's flipping around on the abortion issue doesn't give much credibility there. So...why do you think the tea parties would run someone off the line? Do you know something no one else knows? I think you are desperate and trying to rally up something that doesn't exist for your own self-serving interests.
At the Middlesex Convention it is easy to understand how Gooch won the convention..... She paid for all the delegates votes and brogth them breakfast as well. It just goes to show how the money affects the votes.
thank God for you, Art, the APP rag still hasn't done their job and told people who the candidates for either party will be, at least not on their blog-rag..pathetic-and we worry so much about their headlines, coverage, opinions-why? they stink!
9:50, actually it came to me that more towns showed this time, than the electeds and formers.. no doubt the results would have been different if reversed, since most of the towns came out/made an effort to hear the guys, and many of the others get their arms twisted for whatever reason, by the chair,or for some group's purpose.. glad for Tom A., he's already out there with petitions and will give 100% in the effort!..
Ok anyone who thinks the Middlsex convention represented the Grass roots is at the very least uninformed.
They are for the most part handpicked by politicians to do their bidding, paid for and bussed in. Yes there where some legitmate independent republicans their but most where hacks doing what they where told.
Anon 10:50, Halfacre has plenty of negatives, He has a reputation as being arrogant and flippant. His veracity regarding his stand on social issues is suspect, some might think his negative campaigning was a negative (not sure i agree)
But, he has worked for the nomination very hard for over a year. He did a good job at it. He has been very loyal to the Monmouth County Republican party and has worked hard for many elected officials. He has done a lot more then Sipperelle has. Of course that does not mean he should be the candidate but it points to a larger problem
Here is the kicker. It is obvious from the vote tally that a large number of people who had pledged to support Halfacre lied. Instead of telling him Mike I can't vote for you or at least be non-committal they lied. Last year the ballot was not secret this year it was. Why? A logical conclusion is that a bunch of little Quislings needed anonymity.
The issue is not about Mike Halfacre. The issue is when are we as a party going to stop tolerating leaders who are spineless, disloyal, lying, money grubbing skunks?
Just an FYI: From what I understand the reason little didn't do so well in middlesex was her team got quite the run-around when it came to getting delegate lists for the convention. Somehow they kept on getting the 12th district list. Also they had asked about setting up a room for to serve breakfast and was told that that was not allowed, no one explained our hospitality fee. I think the biggest problem they had is they didn't understand the middlesex convention and no one at our HQ was helping them. Gooch was the chosen one from the beginning with full support from Sam. The powers that be made sure they did everything to support their picks.

that's the spirit, gang!!
Dear GOP Leaders,
thank you for giving the election to the Democrats by picking the 3 worst candidates possible.
Sincerely,
your base
Yes, you got it right! Win we will! Just as I predicted.
Thanks for your thought, Mike. Sorry, but you really shouldn't try to pass yourself off as the "base." Don't be such a sore loser. Go back to your office and worry about cutting the grass.
et tu.. Halfacres totals seem to be less in number than his announced endorsements...what gives??

The Halfacre loss is a real shocker.

If Little couldn't win an open convention in Middlesex after ebing involved in Politics all these years, then how is she going to win a primary??
Anon.11:11, that is a very sad ---but true --- point.
The convention was a microcosm of the general population in a very large blue-collar area ... and she still could not win.
I have to scratch my head, but that is the reality, isn't it?
Underestimating Gooch is a mistake. Things seem to be working in her favor. She won the more open convention in Middlsex by a larger margin than Monmouth which is perceived a being an insiders game. She and Little are also running a much classier contest than in the 12th.
Gooch is great, as long as she doesnt try to speak about politics.

T-Party running off line, highly doubt it! on the Congressional level...Local level a different story.
