Sipprelle on Halfacre Withdrawal

Scott Sipprelle issued the following statement regarding Mike Halfacre's withdrawal from the CD 12 race:

Earlier today, Mike Halfacre called to tell me of his withdrawal from this race and of his commitment to support my candidacy. I am very grateful for this act of leadership and unity on behalf of our party.

Mike is an accomplished Mayor and tireless campaigner, and I am a better candidate for having faced him in this primary. I mentioned to Mike that in my business career, some of my fiercest competitors had often turned into friends and partners. I expect the same will happen here.

At the end of the day, Mike and I share common goals for America and I look forward to his support on the campaign trail as we work toward unseating America's most liberal Congressman and ending Nancy Pelosi's reign as Speaker of the House.

I would also like to extend a hand of partnership to Mike's passionate and hardworking base of supporters. Please join our swelling ranks and know that I am committed to working for you to restore liberty and prosperity to America.

Class Act Scott and Mike.
Now lets concentrate our efforts on
Holt!
A united republican party can defeat him in November.

Thank you, Mike, for demonstrating great commitment to Republican causes and ideals and throwing your support behind Scott. Let's all work together to defeat Holt in November!

I am not voting for Sipprelle. He is Rush Holt with an "R" after his name. He supported Schumer, has no stance on Cap and Trade, is pro-choice and as far as I can see is not a fiscal conservative. We just got rid of a Wall Street guy, why are you people wanting another one?

I am writing in Halfacre's name. I feel better about that than I do voting for a RINO.

Typical sore loser. You don't get your way, so pick up your marbles and go home. A vote not for Sipprelle is a vote for Holt. You really think there's no difference? Get real. Republicans who criticize other Republicans for making a lot of money through their own hard work hard work are either overly envious or crypto-socialists. Joe the plumber would be pissed at you.

To Anonymous 10:19pm -- Obama was able to get the Health bill passed because of the Democratic majorities in Congress. A vote for Mike in November is a vote to keep the Democratic majorities. It doesn't matter whether you like Sipprelle or not. That is not the issue.

An 'R' after their name does not guarantee a vote for the Republicans. Lance, Smith and LoBiondo all voted for Cap and Trade last summer, remember?

Putting and 'R' after your name does not make you a conservative any more than standing in a zoo makes you an elephant.

I am not criticizing Sipprelle for making money, anon 10:47. Where did I say that?

Cap and Trade is not law. Obama-Health is. There is a big difference. Every Republican did vote against Obama-Health. It still became law. There lies the danger. That's the reason you vote for Sipprelle.

A R after the name guarantees it will not be a vote for Pelosi for speaker. Speaker controls the agenda of the House. Those bills you speak of would not even come up for a vote if Rs have control of the House.

Halfacre ran a negative campaign from the start. He flipped-flopped on the abortion issue and only became pro-life when he was desperate for support from conservatives. Halfacre is not much of a man. I would be ashamed to have him represent me. He shouldn't be a mayor and he certainly shouldn't be a municipal prosecutor. He doesn't have the character necessary for any type of public service. It is nice to see that Republicans in four different counties said as much.

To Anonymous 8:50 -- Invective against Mike does not serve our purpose. At a minimum, Scott is a stronger candidate for having campaigned against him. We need to shift our focus to Holt.

BTW -- What are some Democrat Blogs for Monmouth and specifically for CD12? As we shift focus to Holt, I would like to tune in periodically just to find out what's going on. Holt's website is a good start, but there must be more.

you are being kind in assuming most of them are literate enough to carry on intelligent conversations that do anything but inflame, divide, tax, supress, and spew leftist talking points.. but, all I know of for any of their info,is the county Dem website, which is very sparse, at best..if you want to know what they're saying, it's always the same crap from the White House, Gibbs, and his leftist appointees, just dumbed-down to a more local level!

All I have to say is this
1) I will vote for Scott
2) I will not go door to door fro him, I would have for Mike
3) I will not give Scott any money, I did and would have for Mike
4) I will not push my friends and family to vote for Scott, I did and would have for Mike

Mike is a down to earth guy and can motivate me and others to get out the vote for him, Scott does not do that for me.

To Anon 10:56 -- I understand your feelings...

...but the issues we are facing are bigger than just one candidate.

I gave money to Scott Brown, and participated in his phone banks. I gave money to Mike (mostly to keep him competitive through the primary -- I figured that Scott Sipprelle had enough funds to last him that long).

On the day Mike withdrew, I gave money to Scott Sipprelle, and volunteered for his campaign.

Don't lose heart. It's going to be a long battle.

I'll vote for Sipprelle for the same reason I voted for McCain - lesser of two evils.

However, I won't donate any of my time to make phone calls or go out and put up signs. I'll do it however, if I'm paid. I did all those things for free for candidates whose campaign funds were limited, but I see no reason why I should donate even one minute of my time to someone who's running solely on the fact that he has money.

Personally, I don't really know Scott. I've never met Rush either. For me, it's not about either of them as individuals.

I consider myself an independent. It's what is happening in Washington that I find alarming. I changed my voter registration to Republican just so I could vote in the primary for the best candidate to unseat Rush.

If Mike had won the primary, I would have supported him wholeheartedly. I will do the same for Scott, now that Mike has withdrawn.

Unseating Rush is not "just going to happen". It's going to take a lot of work, focus and contentrated effort. I don't need to get paid to fight for the changes that are necessary in Washington.

Interesting article on April 1 by Hannah Martins in the Daily Princetonian which outlines what we are up against in our campaign against Holt. Article is viewable on Sipprelle's website: www.supportscott2010.com
