"Could Obama have possibly picked a better running mate for McCain and Republicans?"

~ that was the overwhelming sentiment of upbeat Monmouth County Republicans at the Affiliated Picnic this afternoon. One party official said, citing polling data, that McCain is set to win Monmouth County by a larger margin than Bush won it in 2004. That data was obviously compiled before Biden was selected as the VP candidate.

On a press conference call early this afternoon, State Senator Bill Baroni, who is the NJ Chairman of the McCain campaign, pointed out that for the first time in memory that the question of readiness to serve as President is not reserved for the Vice Presidential nominee, but rather the Presidential nominee, at that Joe Biden is on the record as stating that his running mate is not ready.
