Let's shut that white boy up
At the behest of Greater Long Branch NAACP President Lorenzo Dangler, Courier publisher Jim Purcell has chosen to discontinue the More Monmouth Musings column which has appeared regularly in the weekly since last September. The editorial space will be filled with a column by Middletown Democratic Chairman Joe Caliendo. Earlier this month Purcell informed me that he was getting heat over the popularity of the More Monmouth Musings column and asked if I would alternate weeks with Caliendo. I agreed and Caliendo's column first column appeared in the most recent issue.
The More Monmouth Musing column never addressed the race issue.
Ironically, Caliendo's column was a slam on Judith Stanley-Coleman and her "farmers" property tax break, which this blog wrote about and satired last fall. Stanley-Coleman is the Middletown Republican who is funding Highlands Democrats.
Purcell admitted that he had not consulted his paper's owner, former Senator Joe Azzolina about this decision. He also admitted that Dangler and Caliendo had discussed my writing. Dangler turned down a request to talk with me, conveyed through Purcell, last week.
Dangler's only public remarks condemning Jesse Jackson's use of the N-word in reference to Barack Obama was in a Courier article last week about this blog.

It should be no suprise that a paper that has aggresively and blindly advanced the democrat line prefers Caliendo's inane (but amusing) patter, to your more thoughtful comments.
I am sorry to hear about this. No matter what our differences have been in the past (and most likely, the future), its never good to censor someone for what they write or say. While I have been the recipient of some censoring, its never fun and it shouldn't happen since differing viewpoints foster a better understanding of the other side.
I am truly sorry for that Art.
Welcome to Jim "Mr. Stupid" Purcell's wonderful world of bigotry and hate, brought to you by the The "Yellow" Courier.
Anyone trapped into Jim Purcell's lies of "fairness" and "just the facts" reporting knows that he an evil lier waiting to destroy, personally if necessary, anyone he determines doesn't fit his agenda.
Jim is just the type of person who winds up like (name omitted by moderator) and those of us who know the guy are not surprised while those he dupes into believing him are "surprised" only by their naitivite.
Jimmyboy, this first comment on this posting did not refer to you as a predator. Simply a guy whose true nature is revealed to the surprise of everyone. It could have equated you to McGreevey also.
It does refer to you as a liar living in a world of bigotry and hate. Kinda strange that you don't address that little gem in your rebuttal.
Learn to read.
Art, he didn't make an issue of Mr. Gallic's religion he made up an issue of Mr. Gallic's religion. There is a big difference between the two. See even you are getting sucked into jimmyboy's insane world of lies.

Thanks Rick, I appreciate the sentiment.
However, what Purcell did is not censorship. Censorship is something that governments do. So long is Jim is empowered by his paper's ownership, he print whatever the NAACP and the Democrats sees fit.
I gave "ronald reagan" some leeway, as he has been a target of a Courier expose of questionable newsworthiness.
Please keep further comments on topic. Courier content and politics, the NAACP, or any disagreement with me are fair game. Reasonable personal attacks on me are fair game too, but please refrain from attacks on Jim Purcell that are unrelated to his job as publisher of The Courier.
It is to be expected that when you engage in a discussion as volatile as race, that some people will run and hide. They will distance themselves from you as much as possible so as not to be seen as supporting you in any way, lest they be contaminated by the same negative public opinion that has been directed your way.
The fact that it is to be expected makes it no less regrettable, no less reprehensible and no less contradictory to resolving the problem.
Move forward.
