Where in NJ are Dems doing a better job than the GOP is doing in Monmouth County?

Democrats Amy Mallet and her running mate for Freeholder have made an issue of the Colts Neck Historical House Tour.

Freeholder Director Lillian Burry is a realtor. She has one of the houses that was on the tour listed for sale for $830,000. During the tour, all the For Sale signs and any other indication that the house was for sale were removed. Burry did not select the houses that were on the tour. Yet, Mallet and her running mate say that Burry found a way to use tax payers dollars to promote her business.

Their charge is hogwash on many levels. First, the House Tour made money for the Colts Neck historians, so it didn't cost taxpayers any money. Secondly, Burry mitigated any conflict by effectively taking the house off the market during the tour.

The Asbury Park Press Editorial Board, which has endorsed Democrats for Freeholder in the last two elections and an Independent in the election before that, today chastised Burry for her "potential conflict." Hogwash.

In New Jersey, for better or worse, we have chosen to be governed by part time citizen politicians. From town council through Senate President, most of our elected offices, except Governor, are part time positions. Some towns, cities and counties elect full time office holders, but the vast majority are part timers.
"Potential conflicts" are everywhere and good office holders, like Burry, are constantly mitigating those conflicts. Burry did everything right in this case.

The Asbury Park Press is once again showing their bias in this election.

This summer, Burry stood up for residents of the Bayshore and changed the game regarding the new FEMA flood maps which would have cost residents thousands of dollars each in new flood insurance. Burry had the county appeal the flood maps, an act in and of it self which saved residents who would have appealed on their own thousands of dollars, and initiated legal action against the federal government to protect the property and income of Bayshore residents.

The Asbury Park Press buried that story on page A6. Yet the Colts Neck House tour was front page news this week, and is on the editorial page today. Hogwash.

Burry did not use tax payers dollars to promote her business. If any thing, Mallet, her running mate, and the Asbury Park Press are promoting Burry's business and helping her sell that house. $830,000 for a restored historic house on 2 acres in Colts Neck sounds like a good deal, even in this market. Check out the listing.

Can anyone tell me of a county in New Jersey where Democrats are doing a better job governing than Republicans are doing in Monmouth County? Amy? Glenn? Randy? Bob? Anyone?

I'll answer for you - nowhere. The big and medium sized cities in this state - all run by Democrats, are financial disasters. Conversely, the towns that are well-run and financially stable are by and large, run by the GOP. Can't argue with facts.
