Extra cash for the holidays

Don't forget to bring your illegal hand guns to the Long Branch Police Department on Friday or Saturday for a little bit of spending money.

No questions asked.

Hrm. According to the ATF "A person may sell a firearm to an unlicensed resident of his State, if he does not know or have reasonable cause to believe the person is prohibited from receiving or possessing firearms under Federal law. A person may loan or rent a firearm to a resident of any State for temporary use for lawful sporting purposes, if he does not know or have reasonable cause to believe the person is prohibited from receiving or possessing firearms under Federal law. A person may sell or transfer a firearm to a licensee in any State. However, a firearm other than a curio or relic may not be transferred interstate to a licensed collector."

I'm thinking about taking tomorrow off from work and standing around outside the LB Police station trying to buy $500 handguns for $60. However, the ideal case would be to pickup a nice $1500 AR-15 for $25! If anyone wants to meet me down there to sell me some weapons, let me know and I'll buy you a coffee on top of the $60s I'll pay for you handguns, or $35 I'll pay for rifles since I'm such a nice guy, and being that I'm such a nice guy,
you should NOT "have reasonable cause to believe [I am] prohibited from receiving or possessing firearms under Federal law".

Any of Art's readers happen to have experience in buying handguns on the street corner in Long Branch? How'd it work out for you?

Every year we try to get Monmouth County to shop in Downtown Asbury (Our Chamber of Commerce now has about 270 members!).

Wonderful place. Downtown and the beach are far from anywhere there might be crime in AP.

But every year near Christmas the State sets up a giant flashing light near Downtown that says "Cash for guns! No questions!"

We picture a lot of lovely ladies turning their cars around upon seeing the sign.

We complain to the state. State says:

"We'll they need money for Christmas so they will sell us their guns."

Our response:

"You have no 'effing idea what they use those guns for, do you."

These Gun buy back programs are a scam on the public. The ultimate feel good program for politicians who want to pretend they are doing something.
They do not take guns out of the hands of criminals. They let peole get Uncle Bens Rusty old double barrel shotgun or the japanese rifle grandpa brought back from the war out of the Attic. Does anyone really think that some gang banger is going to turn in his 9 miilimiter for $100.00. This does nothing but needlessly spend tax dollars.
I shudder to think of the collectible old guns that wind up being melted down.

Besides it should be every citizens civic duty to own a gun and know how to use it.

Mr. Hogan,
Great Idea except that if you do not have the proper NJ gun licenses (Pistol permit or NJ firearms ID for long Guns) You may find yourself facing a long trip "up river" after you complete your transaction.
