Monmouth Dems Raising Money With Unregistered PAC?
Vin Gopal, Middletown Democratic Chairman Joe Caliendo, and others have formed the Blue Monmouth PAC, which held a fundraiser in Matawan last night for that town's municipal Democratic candidates.
As of 3PM this afternoon, there is no Blue Monmouth PAC registered with the New Jersey Election Law Enforcement Commission. (ELEC)
Monmouth County Democratic Chairman Victor Scudiery told MoreMonmouthMusings that he was at the Matawan fundraiser, but that he had no knowledge of Gopal's involvement. "Bud Mullaney invited me and the invitation made no mention of a PAC," said Scudiery. Mullaney is a Matawan Borough councilman up for re-election.
Gopal, the former West Long Branch Democratic chairman and former Kucinich for President volunteer and fundraising coordinator, called shortly after the conversation with Scudiery. "Where did you get the email, Pat Menna," asked Gopal. Menna, the Democratic Mayor of Red Bank and the Matawan Borough Attorney, did not provide the email invitation (pictured above) to MoreMonmouthMusings.
Gopal said the PAC was formed on Tuesday September 29, and that by law it had 10 days to register. He said that PAC did not raise the $40,000 mentioned in the invitation, but PAC members had.
