Oxley: If Anna Wins The Party Will Stand With Her

Monmouth County GOP Chairman Joe Oxley told Politickernj's Max Pizarro that the GOP will stand with Anna Little in her quest to unseat Frank Pallone.

"Clearly, she had the support of the Tea Party folks and the Right to Life folks, she worked very hard and there were a whole lot of factors," Oxley said.

"I think in this environment anything is possible," he said, of Little's prospects of beating U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone (D-Long Branch) in the November general election. "This is an exciting time to be a Republican. Healthcare has been a disaster."

Mr. Oxley, we want to stand with you. Tea Party and GOP combined will be a powerful political force.
As a Tea Party Democrat I have already offered the Little camp my services to speak at Dem venues supporting her candidacy. Some support for Mr. Siprelle also forthcoming.

Monmouth needs a new GOP chairman who will not arrogantly dismiss the rank and file conservative voters. The bad blood between the leadership and Little was settled in Anna's favor Tuesday night.

Little and Corsi defeated the establishment GOP right here in Monmouth County.

The vaunted GOP machine, throughout Monmouth, failed to provide the needed turnout to support their candidates.

Very poor showing by the professionals.

Tea anyone?

Costigan for Chairman.
Oxley weakened the party the last two years. We need a savy guy like John. His knowledge, experience and know how will bring us all together.
No doubt our Lt. Gov would approve of this change.
Oxley failed!

Well said, Anonymous @ 5:37PM. Oxley is part of the problem; he is not part of the solution.

In baseball terms.... when the manager puts the wrong players on the field and the team can't win...it's time to change the manager.

"The Party" Joe. It is our Party. Your Party is over!

hmmmm...sounds like Chairman Oxley thinks its over

Can anyone answer said...

To Art and/or the very well informed who post here, questions:
1. Has there been an annoucement or letters sent by John Costigan or anyone else actually stating an intent to run against Oxley?
2. Has there been any notice of time, place, and "rules" that will govern for the county chair election?
3. Oxley confirm his intent to continue?
4. Is the vice-chair a separate election?
5. Has Oxley stated that Diane Gooch is his choice to continue as Vice-Chair?

Anon: 6:45 The party has won again the past two years--how is that a failure? The party was losing seats before that. Oh and by the way, the GOP is no longer bankrupt...that's a failure--please...winning seats means a stronger GOP and that's what's been happening.

Bringing on a rich woman who bought her chance to run...Oxley should go down in shame. The conservative Republican is not dead and gone. It raised its head to kick Oxley the elite panderer in the groin.

Oxley can no longer depend on the Christie wave to save his butt. Oxley takes care of Oxley. He stands out like a sore thumb!

the letters from the Chair with resumes have been received by the elected county committee.. the postcard stating the date, time, and place for the re-org was received today: next Tues., the 15th, 7pm, Colts Neck High School.... rumor has it Mr. Costigan was sending a letter tonight, so is yet received..have not heard whom either Joe or John would put forward as their vice chair.. customarily, we have had our Rep. County Clerk run the re-org, since she is in charge of all elections for the county, as a neutral party..other than the statutory requirement to notice the c.c. and conduct an election, each county may have slightly different procedures, any given year..required by-laws will be sent out in July, for approval, per Joe..hope this helps..oh, and btw, while Joe personally may have supported Diane, she WAS voted on by the steering comm. to have the line..it's enough, move on, we need to get over the "two-sides" crap now, unite, and run a great campaign, for ALL Repub's.who were nominated on Tuesday!!.. we owe them all our full support to beat all the Dems, and, in doing so, help ourselves!!

Anna's win is also an indication that the rank and file County Committee wants to be heard. We've been shut out of the last two candidate selection processes and that has to change.

To anon 11:02 pm who said

How can the county committee members get involved so that the by-laws reflect their will? Everyone should know this is in process and contact their chairs demanding an open convention process. Shouldn't the chair send a notice TO ALL as to other stuff going on-how, otherwise how are we supposed to know about by-laws?
I do not know John Costigan but by calling around found out that all the "more involved" committee people not only know him but say he is: 1. honest 2. knows how to run grassroots campaigns 3. is not a lawyer 4. has never been "looking for anything" for his own benefit 5. is principled in his own positions but fair and respectible to those who disagree
6. is not arrogant 7. has spoken his mind openly in the presence of the "grand poobahs" ie kyrillos, oxley, bennett, etc in an evenhanded sincere manner 8. would have never engaged in the disrespect, etc actions against Anna during those Freholder days.

If even half of this can be confirmed, it seems that a CHANGE may be the best route for next Tuesday. (and btw not "Bayshore" here)

While Mr. Oxely is not the ideal Chairman it is disengenuos to use the 6th district congressional race to attack him. Not because Joe wasn't wrong but because his putative opposition was AWOL during the campaign. One must therefore presume that had he been chairman he would have acted the same way.
It is always easy to jump on the band wagon after the parade comes to a stop.

Spare us the whining said...

for all those who keep demanding an "open convention process",there is the reality that, sometimes in the recent past, the turnout by the rank and file was paltry, and not even a real quorum of the available seats..talk to the chairs about by-laws??.. many of them, including Mr. Costigan, did not do their bi-annual duty of filling their c.c. seats this Tuesday, and many, unfortunately, don't call back when reached, to come to a chairs' mtg., get and put up lawnsigns in their own towns, or, even, show up at HQ to pick up their latest voter reg. lists!!.. so, while some may desire more participation, many have proven their interest and productivity as "party leaders", is sporadic and minimal at best, and downright arrogantly nothing, at worst!

"is principled in his own positions but fair and respectible to those who disagree
6. is not arrogant"

I would take isuue with these points in Alternative to J oxeley"s
post.

That has not been my experience with mr. Costigan.

I would also point out that Mr. Costigan has failed to heal the breach in the Howell Republican party.

How then will he heal the Monmouth County Party?

Oxley will be vindicated in November when Little innevitably loses.
However- I hope I'm wrong.
