Little Blasts Obama/Pelosi/Pallone Econ Policies During President's Visit

Mayor Anna Little, Republican Candidate in 6th District held a Press Conference during the President’s visit to address the continuing economic challenges facing many Businesses in New Jersey’s 6th District.

Yesterday Anna Little, Republican Nominee for Congressional District 6 joined with residents from the 6th district in greeting President Obama in Edison, NJ. After being relocated twice by Secret Service officials, Little made statements to the press via an open demonstration promoting Liberty and Economic Freedom, and outlining the ineffectiveness of economic stimulus legislation to date.

"New Jersey has lost more than 85,000 jobs since Obama entered office in January 2009, and the New Jersey unemployment rate has stagnated at more than 9% since May of 2009,” said Little, with tea party demonstrators at her back. Little continued to explain that President Obama's budget for 2011 generates nearly $10 trillion in cumulative deficits and increases the national debt to 90% of US economic output by 2020.

While tea party demonstrators shouted "Liberty" and "Freedom" along the curbside at Plainfield Avenue and Lincoln Highway (Route 27) in Edison, NJ, Little continued the conference stating, "The stimulus plan obviously has not created jobs in New Jersey, but rather has resulted in debt, deficit and taxes to be paid by our children and grandchildren."

Congressman Frank Pallone along with this administration's bailout sent a trillion US tax dollars to foreign banks on the backs of struggling American families,” stated Little. "A healthy economy depends upon vibrant and successful small business. Free market principles coupled with across the board tax reductions would set the stage for economic growth."

The group joined in singing "God Bless America" before closing the conference.

Christie has been in office for 7 months now...what has HE done for the 9.6% unemployment rate here in NJ. Nothing. Absolutely nothing. So maybe she should ask the Governor what he plans on doing for the unemployed New Jerseyans.

I bet she won't though.

My day at the Obama NJ sub shop protest. Obama was literally inside the sub shop when this occurred. I was on the corner of Plainfield Ave & Lincoln Hwy (27)

I was surrounded. Young women were inches from my face screaming/chanting "Obama". To make matters worse an elderly black gentleman was screaming loudly "your a racist" over and over. He really got the crowd going and I was in a sea of angry faces chanting "Obama". Some people were trying to talk to me from behind the screaming, chanting ones that encircled me and I was calmly responding to them. I believe those people were trying to take some of the edge off what was becoming an ugly situation. It was minutes away from getting physical because those screaming at me were getting angrier that I was ignoring them. One Tea Party guy who I don't know helped me slice through the crowd and break the circle. As soon as I got through the first ring of screaming nuts many state troopers were on the scene. Something happend because when I was 1/2 block away someone screamed from the corner "the police are beating some-one up, they are down on the ground" and many people started running towards whatever was happening.

Mark, sorry for your unfortunate experience. Emotions run high on both sides of personal views.
People need to chill out and stop with all the name calling.
The extremists on the Tea Party have not show our president the respect he deserves and the presidents' suppporters are now becoming exceedingly defensive.
We can all disagree without being disagreeable.
Change is tough for all of us, but the world is not coming to an end as so many are trying to incite.

I'm not a Tea Party member, but your Leftist commentary makes me sick nonetheless.

Respect is earned - it is not an entitlement. Obama has not earned any respect. On the contrary, for his actions and statements which have imperiled the very existance of our country as a prosperous and vibrant free Republic he deserves only our disgust and scorn.

The Tea Party may have an image problem, but they are justified in their seething anger at Obama.

All presidents deserve some respect and should be given a chance to do their job. I'm not a leftist but didn't vote for Pres. Bush, but I still respected him in his first term. You may disagree with the President, but he's still our president. I happend to strongly agree with what he is trying to accomplish.
As much as I disagreed with Pres. Bush I wanted him to succeed.
Unfortunately durring the 8 years of his presidency, I did not get my wish nor did our country.

You Obama/Pelosi/Pallone/Holt stooges on here are a laugh riot!

First of all, Anon 6:10 said he wasn't a Tea Party member so trashing him for being a Tea Party Member is idiotic.

Secondly, the office of the Presidency deserves respect. That respect doesn't automatically transfer to the person who inhabits it (as somebody pointed out, you gave Bush no respect). And Anon 6:10 is right, Obama hasn't earned any respect.

Thirdly, Anon 6:10 didn't say anything about Bush one way or the other. So how do you know what his views are/were on Bush? Maybe he was just as critical, so attacking him for Bush's Presidency is idiotic. Furthermore, granting that Bush’s Presidency was a failure, how does that excuse Obama's horrific views, policies and performance?

To sum up, not only can you DEM stooges not spell, your arguments (to the extent you actually making an argument vs. just attacking) make no sense. Which explains why you voted for Obama and this country is in such a mess.

Do you need anymore lessons or are you sufficiently chastened?

The state unemployment will go up with everything Christie has done.
Local governments will have to lay off more employees and schools have had to lay off more teachers to manage their budgets. Still taxes are going up.

This is all so funny Art:-)

Anna Little should be pleased that she's got the DEMS running so scared they've got their hacks on here trying to defend Obama and the status quo. And you should be pleased you're getting all these additional site visits!

The facts can't be ignored: Obama's popularity is dropping like a stone, the approval rating of the Reid/Pelosi Congress is the lowest it has EVER been since polling began, and their policies are demonstrably not working to reduce unemployment or improve the economy.

The DEMS will lose control of at least the House, and probably the Senate in November, and Obama will be gone in two years - my guess to be remembered even less charitably the Jimmy Carter.

Anna singing God Bless America was a "moment" that should have been caught on film by the media. Here was a group of people who may not have been there for the same reason, but were exercising their
1st amendment rights. When Anna sang that song you could hear a pin drop. I think most of the crowd got caught off guard, seeing a congressional candidate do that, and it was a good thing. A very good thing. For the few minutes while she was singing that song....there was unity.

Anonymous said...

Anon 8:45, it's not republican polling that shows Obama's popularity dropping, or the historic all-time low approval rating for the Pelosi/Reid congress, it's Gallup, AP and a number of other polling organizations.

And if all you've got in response to criticism of the President and his minions in congress is to criticize Bush, the democrats are in even more serious trouble than i realised.

But I understand why you criticize Bush. The democratic party can't run on Obama's agenda because that agenda has alienated independants and moderate democrats who put Obama in office in the first place.

How's that 2010 FY Dem congress budget working for ya? Oh, I forgot, they are afraid to produce one because it would highlight their deceit, hypocrisy and theft.

I have seen a lot of revisionist history in this commentary, so let me attempt to set the record straight.

Bush (whom I have no love for, because of his big government philosophy, though it is nothing compared with this administration) entered office in January 2001 with the economy already in a recession (or has everyone forgotten the "dot bomb" fiasco?). In the next year we also had confidence shaken by Enron, Worldcom and 9/11. Yet, the country came through that and had some decent economic years up until 2007. What changed??? Control of CONGRESS changed in 2006.

As soon as she got elected speaker, Pelosi went out of her way to shake people's confidence in the economy by saying it was a disaster BEFORE IT ACTUALLY WAS ONE.

You don't have a gold standard in this country - your economy depends on CONFIDENCE. Add to this the idiocy that Fanny Mae and Freddie Mac were - and who came up with the legislation that established them? Barney Franks? Christopher Dodd? What party do they represent???

I am not saying the Republicans are without blame, by any means, but please, don't blame this mess on Bush. Don't insult our intelligence that much! Try to look at the facts without the spin of a philosophy. It might just surprise you.

Latest Gallup poll: Dems 46%, Republicans 41%. Consumer confidence 67.8% up 2.9% from this time last year.
July stock market up highest percentage this year. Obama's approval rating has slipped or even depending on polling at 47%
The point is things are steadily improving from the almost collapse of our economy in 2008.
Unemployment is the lagging indicator which the Obama administration has continued to express. Do you think he was going to turn around a world wide crisis in less than 2 years?
Obama has been on the right path but he's no magician.
So stop with the end of the world mentality and look at reality. Better yet, take a Xanex.

Yes, unemployment has been growing since the stimulus that was supposed to attenuate it. He is growing government and the debt at a pace not seen since FDR and has ignored all constitutional constraints on his actions.

He has taken over private corporations defrauding the stock and bondholders. He has pushed his healthcare debacle which will make the US health care system on par with England and Canada, whose citizens that have the money go elsewhere because they can't get care at home.

Pull your head out of the sand, or the left-wing press and look around at what things really are. Businesses are still closing up. Layoffs are still happening. The Federal government has usurped so much of power never granted it in the constitution and you are losing your freedom more and more each day.

You like what Obama is doing? Why didn't you move to Cuba, or China, the Soviet Union when it still existed? That is where Socialism leads. That is the definition of what he is doing as he brings more and more of the economy under government control. Do you like paying taxes? Do you want to pay more? Maybe 60, 70 or even 80%? That is what Obamacare will bring us to.

Of course, if you want to live in denial until the government owns everything and everyone works for them, then that is your prerogative.

They've been going down since Obama took office because of the incremental tax cuts implemented by Bush in the early '00s. They all expire at the end of this year Income taxes, capital gain taxes, dividend taxes, they're all going up.

Let's just do away with taxes completely too. No government, no laws and complete anarchy.

There were no income taxes until 1913. We still had government, laws, and a pretty nice industrial boom.

Okay, I want to address a couple of points here.

First, I don't watch Glen Beck. I pay attention to what the Obama/Pelosi/Reid political machine are doing. Ramming through Healthcare when over 60% of the population were against it. Purposely freezing out the other party, despite assurances to the contrary in a televised healthcare summit, that was nothing more than a sham. Pushing a Financial Reform package that not only allows the federal government to take over any financial sector company that they decide is in danger according to indeterminate factors, and blocks the SEC from having to respond to Freedom of Information requests. Back-door deals, bills rammed through in the dead of night, etc.

Second, I don't say the US is Socialist. I say that the government is moving in that direction, much more rapidly since Obama took office. Socialism results in totalitarian government with government ownership of business and industry. Obama/Pelosi/Reid have moved way beyond constitutional restrictions, and Pelosi and Reid simply push whatever Obama wants to put forth. Obama, when he can't get the congress to do something tries executive orders and recess appointments.

We move toward Socialism with every takeover of the private sector and every usurpation of our rights. GM and Chrysler were way over the top as was the financial bailout of AIG. The Health-Care bill makes companies conform to the governments definition of a health plan. It forces individuals to buy a product (health care) and if you listen to them they still want to get the public option through which will become a public mandate if you follow it to its logical conclusion.

None of those actions have any place in a democratic republic such as this country is supposed to be. You cannot point to any clause in the Constitution that gives the government the right to do any of this.

We are supposed to be a nation of laws, but we now have a ruling class that thinks they are above the law. If we don't fix this in November, I greatly fear for the future of this country. We are not like the Soviet Union, but with the current attacks on Free Speech, Freedom of Religion and the right to bear arms, we are going down that road and it is a scary road to go down.

Doc said...

anan 6:38 You're right this is scary, but what's even more scary is that fact that you believe this or expect the rest of us to see this only as crap.
NO ONE is taking away our free speech, that is quite evident on this blog. Since when has Freedom of Religion been in jeopardy?
Obama didn't break any laws and did not violate our constitution in getting Health care passed. Too bad the so called 60% didn't approve, but then the Repub. did such a great job demonizing it that no wonder they got scared.
Rebuplicans had no ideas and were clearly involved from the start, but refused to compromise on anything. Why do you think the AMA endorsed it? I watched the meetings and thought the Repubs did a decent job of looking like they really wanted to solve problems, but it was the same old just say NO.
I am a doctor and I felt the only way to change the health care system was to go to single payer. I feel Obama didn't go far enough and sold out to the HC industry.
Clearly our system is defected and this bill doesn't do enough to fix things, but its a start. I'm satisfied that at least people can't be denied or lose their insurance. I became a doctor to help people, and it's sad that so many think medical care is a privledge not a right.
Being a devout Christian, I feel it's the right thing to do.
GM and Crysler are no longer under bankruptcy protection and not taken over by the government. In fact they are healthier now because of the reorganization.
Its laughable that you keep on trying to convince the gullible that the Federal government is the boogey man.
Nice fictional piece.

DOC,

Have you heard about the DISCLOSE Act that was passed by the House, and only missed by 3 votes in the Senate? That would have prohibited smaller grassroots organizations, small businesses, and such from political speech? Look that one up. That is anti-first amendment. The Fairness doctrine that comes up from time to time that they want to pass into law. That is another afront to free speech in requiring equal time for opposing viewpoints. Why should an organization have to present opposing viewpoints that can't stand on their own?

Freedom of Religion? How about the people trying to hand out Christian tracts in Deerborn outside the Arab festival, who the police drove off? How about the assaults on any Display in a public place of anything that can be considered a Christian symbol? Before you tell me that they are not legislating against this, by appointing judges that will rule against these things is still anti-religious freedom. The Constitution only says that the federal government cannot establish a religion. We've come to a full exclusionary view due to judges that exceed their authority to write new law from the bench.

Republicans floated some ideas at the health-care summit, if you watched it at all. Things like Tort Reform, removing interstate barriers to create more competition in the health insurance market, etc. are positive steps that can be taken within a free-enterprise system. Government mandating a person to purchase a product is absolutely un-constitutional. For that matter, much of the current social programs would not be permissible by the Constitution.

Of course Republicans were saying no to the massive expansion in government (which we cannot afford) to create the large bureaucracy required to administer this healthcare program. I didn't see the Democrats compromising. Why do you think its okay for the Democrats to dictate the policy and then the Republicans can only work within the confines of it? That's not compromise, that's dictatorial. Compromise would be a bi-partisan conference to draw up a bill and then a vote, not a Democrat-only conference. Obama strong-arming Congress-men, and buying off votes by adding pork to the bill. This was a bad bill, and we are the ones who will suffer under it. What is the non-sense about nobody will know what's in the bill until it is passed? Is that a Democratic process?

I like how you say Republicans had no ideas and then say they had some good suggestions. Which is it?

As far as GM not being taken over by the Government - Who chose the CEO? The Board of Directors that were elected by the shareholders, or Obama?

"Doc" I don't know where to start in response to your comment, and probably shouldn't waste my time given that your hyper-partisanship appears to have rendered you incapable of objective thought, so I'll just address two of your points:

“I became a doctor to help people, and it's sad that so many think medical care is a privledge not a right.”

It’s not sad that so many people think that, because it means that they, unlike you, have at least a passing knowledge of the US Constitution. Nowhere in the constitution is healthcare (or its equivalent term of the day, or any concept even comparable) mentioned as a right. It isn’t one. If you think that access to healthcare is insufficient, and you claim to be a devout Christian, why don’t you devote your life to charity care rather than advocating that the government extort its citizens to pay for it? Surely extortion isn’t one of the Christian virtues?

“GM and Crysler are no longer under bankruptcy protection and not taken over by the government.”

You are just wrong on the facts: The US government owns 60% of GM, 56% of GMAC and 10% of Chrysler. A further 2% of GM and 12% of Chrysler is owned by Canadian government entities who also participated in the bailout/takeover. Finally, 18% of GM and a whopping 68% of Chrysler is owned by a vehicle of the United Auto Workers as a payoff by the US government to the union for their steadfast support of the Democratic Party. The US government still has $67 billion “invested” in the US auto industry, and is unlikely to recoup that money. That’s clearly a takeover

I don't understand why you democrat hacks are visiting a pro-liberty blog like this and commenting. No republican, no libertarian, and more broadly, no one that truly values liberty is ever going to support the Obama/Pelosi agenda you are trying to defend.

Furthmore, the democrat party now has lost much of its support among independents and blue-dog democrats who are horrified by the far-left Obama/Pelosi agenda.

Frankly, the democrats are losing support even among the special interest groups that make up the base of the party. You should probably focus your efforts on shoring up support with NORML, NAMBLA, LAMBDA, PETA, etc. or you're even going to lose this November in places like California.

How would you know that I don't do charity work? Your response is typical of the all about me Republican Party.
God forbid the government should try and better the lives of people who are in need. I'm not advocating that people become dependent, but sometimes they need a little help, so that they can get back on their feet and do their share.
This is the core difference between the Republicans and Democrats.
Even Pres. Bush knew the government had to step in and save the Auto Industry, banks, AIG. Would you have prefered a world wide calamity instead? Hoover showed us where that went and FDR put the programs in place to help the American people get back on their feet.
We will surive this crisis and be better people for it. It's the hatred from people like you who just can't see the forest for the trees, who refuse to see beyond their own self righteous little world who can't except change, that destroys the human spirit.

Doc,

You do charity work? That's commendable.

To say that I am full of hate is absolutely ridiculous. You seem to think that if one doesn't support intrusive government and an increase in dependence on it (which has a corresponding decrease in liberty, for example note the Pay Czar, Obama appointed) must be full of hate. You seem to think that the altruistic government must and will fill the gap for all societal ills, but not exact any price for doing so. That falls in line with the liberal philosophy that everyone is good if you give them a chance. Unfortunately for you and all who hold to that philosophy, history shows otherwise. The founding fathers purposely created a Constitution that is focused on the limits of federal power because they knew how a tyranny could develop in a strong federal government. Their model was for a federal government to take care of the overarching issues such as the common defense, foreign relations, standardized currency and such. States were sovereign entities that bequeathed these powers to the federal government. I will cite the federalist papers to support this conjecture.

That being said, volunteerism, and lifting of restrictions on the marketplace is the best way to resolve the health-care issue. People need the insurance because the price is high. Part of the reason for the high price is the insurance companies follow the medicare model of setting the price they will pay. That means that the uninsured get socked more than they would if everyone paid a fair price.

If you want to see what government-run health-care is like, ask people from Canada that have come to the U.S. (including high government officials) because our health-care is better. For the rank and file they can't leave when the government won't approve a procedure. You always have to contend with life and death choices made by a bean-counter who has to come in on budget.

Try some independent investigation instead of simply sucking in what the main-stream-media tell you. You are not getting the whole story that way.

If our government owns all these companies as is stated here, it will help with the deficit. As the government sells their shares in stock as they are doing with Citi Grp. they are making money.
If the government didn't buy the stock, those companies would have gone bankrupt. So simply the government saved all these companies and now that those companies are turning profits, the stock is higher and the government profits. Companies start to hire and people get off unemployment, tax revenue goes up. Deficit goes down. I don't have an MBA, but
sounds like a pretty good business solution for everyone. So what's the PROBLEM??? IS IT SOCIALISM???

Your so called opionions are not based on the facts as I know them. It would take too long to educate you, and frankly its not worth trying to. You think you've figured it all out, so why bother.
The same aruguements took place when social security and medicare were introduced. They are not perfect programs but the alternative is not acceptable.
My hope is that we will improve what we have and get rid of what doesn't work. The AMA sees it that way, but it's one step at a time. To do nothing is not acceptable and the Republicans have chosen to do nothing everytime they've been in power.
Nixon was the only one to attempt it.

Ah, but I understand finance and economics, something which you display little knowledge of, though you would have us believe you know what you are talking about in that regard. Insurance and health costs are in the financial realm, not medicine.

If your field is Medicine, then I will allow you know far more about that field than me. When you purport to give opinion on financial and economic matters, forgive me if I don't treat you as an expert there.

Doc,

An addendum.

It would probably take too long to educate you on the subjects of History, Economics and Finance. Therefore maybe we should agree to differ and move on.

History, eoncomics and finance. That's quite a resume. Somehow I doubt it.

Doc,

Fortunately your doubt doesn't make a bit of difference, any more than your view that big government will not affect the liberty that we enjoy and that has been eroded markedly in the last 50 years or so makes it so despite all evidence to the contrary.

I am quite confident that my liberties are not in jeopardy.
The scare tactics don't work on me.

I guess the rest of America is seeing the light too.
